About Us
[Company Name] is a custom plastics manufacturer producing precision components for the medical, automotive, and consumer products industries. We run 40+ presses from 50 to 500 tons in a clean, climate-controlled facility, and we’ve grown by investing in the people who keep those presses running.
The Role
As an Injection Molding Process Technician, you’ll own the setup, startup, and optimization of molding processes on your shift. You’ll troubleshoot defects, keep scrap low, and make sure every part that leaves your press meets spec. You’ll work closely with quality, maintenance, and tooling to keep production on schedule.
What You’ll Do
Set up and start up injection molding presses, including mold changes, auxiliary equipment hookups, and material changeovers.
Establish, document, and optimize process parameters using scientific molding principles.
Diagnose and correct part defects such as short shots, flash, sink, warp, splay, and burns.
Perform first-article and in-process inspections with calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Monitor press performance and adjust processes to improve cycle time and reduce scrap.
Train and support machine operators on proper procedures, safety, and quality standards.
Keep accurate process sheets, setup records, and shift logs.
Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, and maintain a clean work area.
What You Bring
2+ years of hands-on experience as a molding technician or process technician.
Working knowledge of hydraulic and electric presses (Engel, Arburg, Van Dorn, or similar).
Understanding of thermoplastic materials and how they behave during processing.
Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the patience to work a problem to the root cause.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Nice to have: RJG Master Molder or Systematic Molding certification, experience with robotics or end-of-arm tooling, a background in medical or ISO 13485 environments, and familiarity with hot runner systems.
