We work with contractors, ceiling sub-contractors, designers, and architects to provide products that enhance and transform interior workspaces. Our portfolio includes a range of premium soft architectural materials and products designed for commercial projects.

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of Acoufelt’s facilities across multiple locations in the Metro Detroit area. These facilities include corporate office space, manufacturing operations, warehouses, and supporting exterior/site areas.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of Acoufelt facilities across multiple Metro Detroit locations.
  • Maintain office, manufacturing, warehouse, common, and exterior areas to ensure facilities are clean, safe, functional, and professional.
  • Perform regular facility inspections and proactively identify maintenance, repair, safety, and appearance issues.
  • Coordinate and prioritize facility work requests from departments across the organization.
  • Ensure building systems remain operational, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, compressed air, dock equipment, doors, security systems, and other facility infrastructure.
  • Coordinate emergency and unplanned facility repairs while minimizing disruption to operations.
  • Oversee grounds, parking areas, exterior lighting, snow removal, landscaping, waste management, and other site services.
  • Directly manage Acoufelt’s Facilities and Safety personnel, including the Safety Coordinator, janitorial employees, handyman/maintenance personnel, and other assigned staff.
  • Establish daily, weekly, and long-term priorities for the Facilities and Safety functions.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, development, and performance management for direct reports.
  • Establish clear standards and accountability for facility condition, maintenance responsiveness, workplace safety, cleanliness, and preventive maintenance.
  • Coordinate resources and staffing across Acoufelt’s multiple Metro Detroit locations.
  • Provide overall leadership and accountability for Acoufelt’s workplace safety program.
  • Directly manage and develop the Safety Coordinator, establishing priorities and ensuring effective execution of safety initiatives.
  • Partner with the Safety Coordinator and departmental leadership to maintain and continuously improve Acoufelt’s safety culture.
  • Ensure appropriate safety policies, procedures, training programs, inspections, and documentation are established and maintained.
  • Provide oversight to ensure compliance with applicable OSHA and other federal, state, and local workplace safety requirements.
  • Review safety inspections, observations, incidents, near misses, and corrective actions with the Safety Coordinator.
  • Ensure identified hazards and corrective actions are assigned, tracked, and completed in a timely manner.
  • Review safety performance metrics and trends and communicate key findings to Operations leadership.
  • Ensure appropriate incident investigations and root-cause analyses are completed.
  • Support emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures, emergency response planning, and related training.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Warehouse, Logistics, and other departments to proactively identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Ensure contractors working within Acoufelt facilities follow applicable company safety requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for facilities, manufacturing support equipment, tools, and other assigned company assets.
  • Establish maintenance schedules based on manufacturer recommendations, equipment usage, operational requirements, and historical performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, warranties, and equipment service history.
  • Coordinate required inspections, certifications, and recurring service activities.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing and Engineering to identify equipment reliability concerns and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Maintain appropriate inventories of critical spare parts, maintenance supplies, tools, and consumables.
  • Manage external contractors and service providers supporting HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, security, janitorial services, landscaping, snow removal, waste management, equipment repair, and other facility needs.
  • Obtain and evaluate competitive quotes for facility repairs, maintenance services, and improvement projects.
  • Develop and communicate clear scopes of work.
  • Coordinate contractor access, schedules, safety requirements, and project execution.
  • Verify contractor work is completed safely, correctly, on schedule, and within approved budgets.
  • Maintain appropriate service agreements and recurring maintenance contracts.
  • Continually evaluate vendor performance, service quality, responsiveness, and cost effectiveness.
  • Manage facility improvement and repair projects from scope development through completion.
  • Coordinate office modifications, manufacturing area changes, equipment moves, storage improvements, and other facility-related projects.
  • Develop project scopes, obtain quotes, coordinate contractors, track budgets, and communicate schedules to stakeholders.
  • Support larger capital projects, facility expansions, and equipment installations in coordination with Operations and Engineering.
  • Identify opportunities to improve facility efficiency, reliability, organization, appearance, safety, and operating costs.
  • Assist in developing and managing annual Facilities and Safety budgets.
  • Track facility expenses and identify opportunities to reduce operating costs without negatively impacting safety or reliability.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of major facility assets, equipment, tools, and associated maintenance requirements.
  • Develop repair-versus-replacement recommendations and identify future capital needs.
  • Support long-term facility and infrastructure planning across Acoufelt’s Metro Detroit operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in facilities management, industrial maintenance, building operations, or a related field.
  • Previous experience leading facilities, maintenance, janitorial, skilled-trade, or safety personnel.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, or distribution environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple facilities or locations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of workplace safety programs and OSHA requirements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, lighting, docks/doors, and general building systems.
  • Experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contractors, service providers, scopes of work, and facility projects.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot facility and equipment issues.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead both technical facilities personnel and safety professionals.
  • Comfortable working in office, manufacturing, and warehouse environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly between Acoufelt’s Metro Detroit facilities.

Success in this position will be measured by the safety, condition, reliability, and operational readiness of Acoufelt’s facilities. The Facilities & Safety Manager is expected to build strong systems and teams that proactively address facility maintenance and workplace safety rather than simply responding to issues as they occur.

The manager will be accountable for developing a responsive Facilities function, establishing effective preventive maintenance practices, providing strong leadership to the Safety Coordinator, and ensuring Acoufelt’s office, manufacturing, and warehouse environments remain safe, compliant, well-maintained, and capable of supporting the continued growth of the organization.
