Position Summary:
The Evangelist position serves by planning, coordinating, and preaching evangelistic meetings across the North American Division, conducting revival meetings and evangelistic training for churches, and organizing other events and projects for the Evangelism department, under the direction of the Director of Evangelism. It is crucial that this position supports the mission and values of It Is Written by exemplifying the values and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in all interactions.
Authority & Accountability:
Authority as delegated by and accountable to the Director of Evangelism in accordance with It Is Written’s policies and objectives.
Essential Position Functions:
- Report directly to the Director of Evangelism and assist with and/or lead evangelism responsibilities, providing successful project management of tasks and initiatives.
- Contact Church Unions and Conferences to negotiate and seek opportunities for evangelistic meetings. Meeting locations will be determined and contracts finalized by the Director of Evangelism.
- Collaborate with local or Conference-level Church leadership at inviting locations to establish logistics for evangelistic meetings.
- Preach at least five (5) evangelistic meetings per year across the North American Division, or internationally on occasion. Each meeting will include local evangelism training and revival meetings for the participating churches, as well as effective follow-up after an evangelistic meeting.
- Manage budgets for evangelistic meetings.
- Guide and train churches to operate on a cycle of evangelism that builds interest before a series and provides proper discipleship following a series.
- Conduct all functions of the evangelistic meetings, including: planning, budgeting, marketing, training, organizing logistics, preaching, interest tracking, visitation, and coordination. Provide the church with a detailed list of meeting attendees and interests during and following the series.
- Coordinate with other It Is Written departments to create timely public relations communications, websites, videos, and marketing pieces for evangelistic meetings.
- Coordinate with the Customer Service department on ordering supplies for events in a timely manner.
- Provide regular comprehensive reports to the Director of Evangelism for each evangelistic meeting completed as well as a year-end summary.
- Conduct approved evangelism training, as requested, or in conjunction with scheduled evangelistic meetings.
- Represent It Is Written and the Evangelism department in public relations and professional communication with Divisions, Unions, Conferences, and local entities of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and other partnering ministries. Proper representation requires solid leadership expertise in public relations.
- Represent It Is Written at events or functions as requested (e.g. preaching Sabbath mornings at a church, attending conventions, camp meetings, or events to promote public relations).
- Write occasional articles for Impressions magazine or other It Is Written periodicals.
- Assist or lead out in occasional online training or social media events as requested by It Is Written.
- Be available to meet in person, by phone, or by videoconferencing for collaboration with the Director of Evangelism, attend Evangelism department or project meetings, and facilitate work with team members from other departments.
- Fulfill other related responsibilities and duties as assigned.

- Education: A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required. A bachelor’s degree in theology, religion, or a related field is preferred. Being an ordained pastor in the Seventh-day Adventist Church is preferred.

- Experience: Minimum five (5) years’ experience in conducting evangelistic campaigns, preaching, and/or performing evangelism training.

- Membership and Mission: Embrace the mission and values of It Is Written and be a member in good standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

- Travel Requirements: Must possess a valid passport at the time of hire or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment to facilitate required international travel.
