The Integration Architect is responsible for designing, developing and governing integrations between Affidea’s clinical and business applications, with a primary focus on healthcare interoperability and the Group’s central integration platform.

A key responsibility of the role is the technical ownership, development and continuous improvement of Affidea’s Central Mirth integration platform, which provides standardized integration capabilities between country-level and Group-level clinical systems.

The Integration Architect combines solution architecture with hands-on integration development. The role is expected not only to define integration designs and standards, but also to develop, configure, test, troubleshoot and optimize interfaces and integration components.

The role works closely with Group and Country IT teams, application owners, clinical IT teams, project teams and external vendors to ensure reliable, secure and scalable exchange of healthcare information between systems such as HIS, RIS, PACS, LIS and other clinical and operational platforms.

The Integration Architect also drives the standardization of healthcare integrations across Affidea, reducing unnecessary point-to-point integrations and establishing reusable integration services and patterns.

·   Design end-to-end integrations between healthcare applications including HIS, RIS, PACS, LIS and other clinical systems.

·   Define integration architecture and data flows between local country systems and central Group platforms.

·   Design and maintain integration solutions using healthcare interoperability standards including HL7 v2, FHIR and DICOM.

·   Define standardized integration patterns for patient, appointment, order, result and other clinical information exchange.

·   Analyze existing healthcare workflows and interfaces and propose improved or standardized integration solutions.

·   Support the transition from country-specific and point-to-point interfaces towards reusable Group integration services.

·   Produce and maintain integration architecture diagrams, interface specifications, message flows and technical documentation.

·   Ensure appropriate consideration of patient safety, data integrity, availability and traceability when designing healthcare integrations.

·   Take technical ownership of Affidea’s Central Mirth integration platform and its integration architecture.

·   Design and develop Mirth channels supporting communication between Group and country-level systems.

·   Configure and maintain Mirth source and destination connectors, transformers, filters and routing logic.

·   Develop message transformations and routing rules for healthcare and application integrations.

·   Implement and maintain HL7 and other message-processing workflows within Mirth.

·   Develop custom scripts and components where required to support complex integration requirements.

·   Design reliable message processing including acknowledgement handling, retries, queues, error handling and message recovery.

·   Monitor and optimize integration performance and message processing.

·   Troubleshoot complex integration problems including connectivity, message format, transformation, routing and application-level issues.

·   Analyze failed, delayed or duplicate messages and perform root-cause analysis.

·   Define monitoring, alerting and logging requirements for the central integration platform.

·   Support high availability, scalability and business continuity requirements of the Central Mirth environment.

·   Establish development, testing and deployment standards for Mirth channels and integration components.

·   Maintain appropriate version control and release management for integration developments.

·   Perform hands-on development of integration solutions as a core part of the role.

·   Develop and maintain interfaces, APIs, integration services, scripts and message transformations.

·   Develop integration logic using technologies such as JavaScript, Java, C#, SQL or other relevant technologies.

·   Build and consume REST APIs and web services.

·   Develop data transformation and mapping logic between different source and target data structures.

·   Work with XML, JSON, HL7 and other structured message formats.

·   Develop database integration components and queries where required.

·   Implement appropriate validation, error handling, logging and reconciliation mechanisms.

·   Create reusable integration components and libraries to accelerate future integration development.

·   Perform unit and integration testing of developed interfaces.

·   Support UAT and production deployments.

·   Investigate and resolve production integration incidents where development-level expertise is required.

·   Define and maintain Affidea standards for healthcare interoperability.

·   Work extensively with HL7 v2 messages, including common ADT, ORM, ORU and SIU workflows.

·   Design and support FHIR-based integrations where appropriate.

·   Understand and support DICOM-related workflows and integration with medical imaging environments.

·   Work with clinical and technical stakeholders to understand healthcare workflows and translate them into integration requirements.

·   Ensure correct patient identification and appropriate handling of patient and clinical data across integrated systems.

·   Support integration between scheduling, patient administration, clinical reporting and medical imaging systems.

·   Work with vendors to understand and validate their healthcare integration capabilities and interface specifications.

·   Design and develop integrations using REST APIs, web services, messaging and other integration technologies.

·   Define standards for API-based communication and reusable integration services.

·   Design synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns according to business and technical requirements.

·   Support integration with cloud-based and on-premise applications.

·   Define common approaches for authentication, authorization, error handling, retry mechanisms and API versioning.

·   Work with external vendors to design and implement interfaces between vendor solutions and the Affidea environment.

·   Ensure integrations can be effectively monitored and supported in production.

·   Define end-to-end monitoring and alerting for critical healthcare interfaces.

·   Implement appropriate logging and technical traceability.

·   Establish processes for identifying failed, delayed or duplicate messages.

·   Support root-cause analysis of integration incidents.

·   Work with support teams to establish appropriate operational procedures and escalation paths.

·   Identify recurring incidents and implement permanent technical improvements rather than relying on manual operational workarounds.

·   Continuously improve integration reliability, performance and maintainability.

·   Act as the technical authority for healthcare integration solutions.

·   Define and maintain Affidea integration architecture standards and development guidelines.

·   Review integration designs proposed by internal teams and external vendors.

·   Ensure new integrations follow agreed architecture and interoperability standards.

·   Promote reusable integration components and standardized interfaces across Affidea countries.

·   Reduce unnecessary direct system-to-system integrations where centralized or reusable integration services provide a more sustainable solution.

·   Evaluate new integration technologies and healthcare interoperability approaches where relevant.

·   Maintain technical documentation and integration inventories.

·   Work closely with Group IT, Country IT, Clinical IT, Digital Solutions and project teams.

·   Participate in requirements gathering and translate business and clinical requirements into technical integration designs.

·   Lead technical integration workshops with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

·   Identify technical dependencies and integration risks early in projects.
