The Head of Content & Editorial is responsible for defining and delivering Alshaya's digital content and asset management strategy across all digital channels, brands and markets.

 

The role is accountable for ensuring the business operates a scalable, efficient and best-in-class content supply chain that enables best-in-class customer experiences while supporting commercial growth, operational efficiency and profitability. This includes ownership of content operations, editorial standards, digital asset management, localization, content governance and supporting technologies.

 

The Head of Content & Editorial plays a critical role in enabling Alshaya's eCommerce strategy through the effective operationalization of platforms including Adobe Experience Manager, Digital Asset Management, Multi-Site Manager, AI-driven content capabilities and future customer experience initiatives.

 

The role leads the evolution of operating models across Content, ensuring clear accountability between central teams and brand teams while driving capability development, process standardization and adoption of best practice across the wider eCommerce community.

 

Working closely with Trading, Performance, Customer Experience, Product, Technology, Brand and Retail teams, the Head of Content & Editorial is expected to champion customer-centricity, accelerate speed to market and continually identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and business performance.

 

Beyond functional leadership, the role acts as a key member of the eCommerce Leadership Team, influencing strategic direction, leading cross-functional initiatives and helping shape the future operating model of digital commerce across Alshaya.

 

 

This role

  • Works closely with the Director of eCommerce to deliver the agreed strategy.
  • Is responsible for the end-to-end creation operation of digital content and assets.
  • Works closely with brand, performance and delivery teams to fully own the content operation and roadmap to deliver a winning customer shopping experience.
  • Maximises conversion rates in all digital environments through an effective operation and the supply of digital content and assets.
  • Is a highly dynamic and attentive individual who is adept at relationship building with internal and external clients, constantly striving to improve what we have.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve the customer experience.
  • Owns a robust reporting suite across all aspects of content production.
  • Constantly scans new technologies, trends and opportunities.
  • Works seamlessly with the Heads of Online Operations and Online Performance to compliment the ability to maximise revenue generation and conversion.  
  • Works seamlessly across the wider organisation forging strong relationships to deliver results, particularly with brand teams and where appropriate, host brand teams to improve source delivery.
  • Define and deliver the Content & Editorial strategy across all brands, markets and digital channels.
  • Establish and continuously evolve the Content & Editorial operating model to support business growth and scalability.
  • Lead the Content & Editorial Centre of Excellence, ensuring consistent standards, governance and best practices across the organization.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and thought leader for content operations, digital asset management, and localization.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to the broader eCommerce strategy and leadership agenda.
  • Own the end-to-end content supply chain from asset creation through to publication.
  • Ensure all customer-facing content is accurate, optimized, brand compliant and delivered on time.
  • Lead Digital Asset Management (DAM), Multi-Site Manager (MSM) and content governance frameworks.
  • Drive the adoption of AI-enabled content creation, translation and workflow automation capabilities.
  • Establish content standards, templates and quality controls to improve consistency and speed to market.
  • Ensure content & editorial teams deliver assets that support brand objectives, customer experience and commercial performance.
  • Define and implement scalable operating models across Content & Editorial functions.
  • Establish clear ownership and accountabilities between central teams and brand teams.
  • Drive continuous process improvement through automation, simplification and operational excellence.
  • Lead governance forums and working groups to ensure alignment across stakeholders.
  • Act as a catalyst for knowledge sharing and capability development across the eCommerce community.
  • Ensure content instrumentalization support customer acquisition, engagement, conversion and retention objectives.
  • Continuously evaluate and audit customer journeys and identify opportunities to improve content effectiveness and shopper confidence.
  • Partner with Trading, UX and CRO teams to improve onsite experiences and commercial outcomes.
  • Champion customer-centric thinking across content creation processes.
  • Maximize value realization from Adobe Experience Platform and related technologies.
  • Drive adoption and utilization of existing platform capabilities before pursuing incremental technology investments.
  • Partner with Product and Technology teams to define future capability requirements and roadmaps.
  • Own relevant vendor and agency relationships.
  • 8+ years' experience in Digital Commerce, Content Operations, or Customer Experience functions.
  • 5+ years leading large, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience operating across multiple brands and markets.
  • Proven experience designing operating models and scaling digital functions.
  • Experience implementing or operating enterprise content management and asset management platforms.
  • Experience leading business transformation and change initiatives.
  • Calm under pressure.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of ecommerce performance drivers, including SEO.
  • Strong leader and team player.
  • Ability to collaborate and co-create.
  • Strategic thinker.
  • Able to influence at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Outstanding presentation skills and the ability to show complex issues in an engaging and visual way.

  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Commercially minded and extremely driven.
  • Experience of using specialist digital/web tools and software packages.
  • Expertise with PIM, DAM, content management and delivery systems (preferably Adobe)
  • Working appreciation of HTML, Java and SQL (you do not need to be able to code).
