Time Commitment: 2-7 hours per week
Job Description:
The Social Issues Commission (SIC) seeks to facilitate dialogue, education, and engagement on all matters related to equity, identity, and anti-oppression. Collective Reflections is an annual publication that strives to represent the diversity of Queen's students through poetry, prose, visual art, and all other printable mediums. Its mission is to provide a forum for creative expression within the Queen's and Kingston communities on a variety of topics and vectors of identity. Collective Reflections publishes submissions on, but not limited to, the following topics: disability and accessibility; racism and anti-racism; mental health/illness; Queer issues; and feminism.
The Layout/Graphics Lead designs the visual identity of the publication, including page layouts and promotional graphics. CoRe Members will work alongside the Editor(s)-in-Chief to promote the publication, encourage student submissions, and curate the final publication.
Responsibilities
Respect and adhere to all AMS policies, procedures, and ethical standards
Communicate regular updates to the Editor(s)-in-Chief regarding layout progress and photoshoot coordination
Be familiar with and implement the mandate of Collective Reflections in all visual and design work
Liaise with creative partners, including photographers, models, and graphic collaborators
Brainstorm and contribute visual concepts for the publication design
Coordinate with editors on the visual layout and integration of photoshoots in the final publication
Attend AMS volunteer training and Social Issues Commission volunteer training
Attend and fully participate in all in-person and virtual CoRe meetings
Complete all assigned layout and design tasks efficiently and attentively
Strive to foster a warm, inclusive, and respectful creative environment for contributors and collaborators
Always serve as a professional and creative representative of the AMS and its mission
Complete other job duties as assigned
