Responsibilities
~1 min readAs a Data Engineer, you will be part of the team responsible for building and maintaining the production data systems that power our ecommerce platform. You will design, develop, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across batch and streaming architectures while ensuring high reliability, observability, and performance. Working closely with Product Managers,
Tech Leads, and Engineering teams, you will contribute to building data-driven systems that support leading global retailers and brands.
In this role, you will lead and execute initiatives that support our data engineering and platform scalability efforts. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Tech Leads, and cross-functional engineering teams to design and deliver reliable data pipelines and production-grade data services. This role requires strong expertise in modern data engineering practices, cloud infrastructure, and scalable architecture design. You will play a key role in helping Athos Commerce drive product visibility, operational efficiency, and ecommerce growth for global brands.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python for batch and streaming workloads
- Develop and manage production-grade data services exposed through REST and/or gRPC APIs
- Design and optimize data models across OLTP and OLAP systems
- Implement and maintain Change Data Capture (CDC) and time-travel-enabled data architectures
- Manage and optimize cloud-based data infrastructure across Azure, AWS, or GCP environments
- Own CI/CD workflows for data pipelines, including automated testing and deployments
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure data quality, pipeline stability, and reliability
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Tech Leads to scope, estimate, and deliver engineering work
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices and documentation
- Monitor and improve system observability, performance, and operational efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 2+ years of experience in Python and modern data engineering practices
- Strong experience building production ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and streaming systems
- Hands-on experience with DataFrame-based processing tools such as pandas, Polars, or Arrow
- Understanding of OLTP vs OLAP systems and modern data modeling principles
- Experience with CDC frameworks and time-travel-enabled data systems such as Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg
- Experience building and managing REST and/or gRPC APIs
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or similar • Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP • Knowledge of Git, Agile methodologies, and collaborative engineering workflows
- Experience with tools such as Apache Airflow, dbt, Kafka, Databricks, or equivalent is a plus
