Come join our team as our next Pastry Cook at the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center, located in the heart of the UT campus! Hook'em!

(This is a Full-Time role- daytime)

Principle Responsibilities & Position Purpose:

To plan, prep, set up and prepare quality products in all areas of the Pastry/Bake Shop to include but not limited to, pastries, desserts, breads, ice creams, sorbets, creams, simple syrups, jams, displays/centerpieces in accordance with departmental quality standards and specifications.  Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

  1. Prepare food of consistent quality following Flik recipe cards.
  2. Date all food containers and rotate per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  3. Practice safety standards at all times.
  4. Bake/Prepare orders as requested, including special requests.
  5. Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to prepare over estimated needs.
  6. Practice sanitation standards at all times.  Make sure that all perishables are being kept at the proper temperatures.
  7. Properly portion all items on assigned station.
  8. Control food waste, loss and usage per SOP.  Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems.
  9. Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up.  Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages.  Assist in keeping buffet stocked.
  10. Assist in prep work of vegetables and condiments as required for the next shift.
  11. Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
  12. Each associate is expected to carry out, within their capabilities, all reasonable requests by management.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to arrive to work on time and when scheduled.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Be flexible concerning scheduling needs and requirements.

Additional language ability preferred.
