Sr. Technical Sourcing Recruiter, Product & Engineering

What You'll Do

Avalara is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Talent Acquisition Sourcer for Product and Engineering to power our technical hiring engines. This is a high-impact individual contributor role focused on building robust, diverse pipelines of top-tier technical talent for our core Product and Engineering teams, ranging from senior individual contributors to executive leadership.

You will partner closely with our technical recruiters and hiring managers to uncover passive talent, leverage cutting-edge sourcing strategies, and serve as an expert market advisor. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the tech landscape, exceptional stakeholder management, and a passion for candidate advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

• Build Proactive Pipelines: Design and execute advanced sourcing strategies (using Boolean search, LinkedIn Recruiter, and alternative channels) to identify, engage, and attract passive engineering, product management, and design talent.

• Act as a Market Advisor: Partner with technical recruiters and engineering leaders to understand role requirements, align on target profiles, and provide market intelligence and talent insights.

• Curate High-Quality Sourcing Slates: Deliver well-vetted, diverse candidate slates with speed and precision, ensuring high response and conversion rates through personalized, engaging outreach.

• Elevate Candidate Experience: Deliver a white-glove candidate experience by maintaining transparent communication, sharing compelling narratives about Avalara’s technical stack and culture, and guiding candidates through initial screenings.

• Collaborate on Global Initiatives: Work alongside the global TA and Executive Recruiting teams to share best practices, optimize sourcing templates, and streamline pipeline reporting and governance.

• Navigate Ambiguity & Scale: Manage multiple concurrent technical searches across various product and engineering domains while maintaining high quality, consistency, and alignment with our hiring bar.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

• 5+ years of total recruiting experience, with at least 5+ years focused on technical hiring (Product & Engineering) within a global enterprise or a top-tier retained/executive search firm.

• Deep technical sourcing expertise with the ability to independently build, calibrate, and refine high-quality candidate pipelines for hard-to-find technical talent at all levels.

• Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of functional requirements across Product, Engineering, and related technical organizations.

• Prior experience successfully partnering across time zones and cultures within a distributed, global Talent Acquisition team structure.

• Strong presence and situational awareness in high-level conversations—demonstrating the ability to listen deeply, advise strategically, and influence effectively without overstepping.

• Prior work in high-growth SaaS, technology organizations or retained search.
• Familiarity with recruiting and sourcing frameworks.
