The Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and controlling all construction activities for assigned projects, ensuring that work is executed safely, within approved schedule and budget, and in accordance with project specifications, drawings, quality standards, and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement construction execution plans and methodologies.
  • Plan construction activities in line with the overall project schedule.
  • Coordinate civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, structural, and other construction disciplines.
  • Ensure availability of manpower, materials, equipment, tools, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor daily construction progress and identify potential delays.
  • Ensure construction activities are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
  • Monitor construction progress against the approved baseline schedule.
  • Develop look-ahead plans and recovery plans where required.
  • Identify critical-path activities and potential schedule risks.
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, and vendors to resolve construction constraints.
  • Prepare progress reports and provide accurate construction forecasts.
  • Manage day-to-day site construction activities.
  • Supervise construction teams, subcontractors, and site supervisors.
  • Coordinate site activities with the client, consultants, vendors, and other contractors.
  • Ensure proper site logistics, access, storage, and material handling.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and construction coordination meetings.
  • Ensure construction is performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, ITPs, method statements, and applicable standards.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections, testing, and documentation.
  • Ensure timely closure of NCRs, punch points, and quality observations.
  • Ensure proper construction records and as-built documentation are maintained.
  • Ensure strict compliance with project HSE requirements and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture at site.
  • Ensure toolbox talks, JSA/JHA, permit-to-work, risk assessments, and safety inspections are implemented.
  • Stop unsafe work where necessary and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Coordinate with HSE personnel for incident prevention and reporting.
  • Monitor construction costs and resource utilization.
  • Control manpower, equipment, subcontractor, and material productivity.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality or schedule.
  • Review subcontractor claims, quantities, and progress measurements.
  • Act as the primary construction representative at site.
  • Coordinate with client representatives, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in progress, technical, and coordination meetings.
  • Resolve site technical and construction-related issues in coordination with Engineering and Project Management.
  • Coordinate construction completion and system turnover to commissioning teams.
  • Ensure mechanical completion activities are properly planned and documented.
  • Coordinate punch-list clearance.
  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing, and start-up activities.
  • Ensure completion dossiers, as-built drawings, test records, and handover documentation are completed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Typically 10–15+ years of construction experience, preferably in EPC, Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, Industrial, or Infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience managing multidisciplinary construction activities.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
  • Good knowledge of construction methodologies, project controls, QA/QC, and HSE requirements.
  • Knowledge of relevant international standards such as API, ASME, IEC, NFPA, ASTM, etc., depending on project discipline.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, NEBOSH, or other relevant certifications would be an advantage.
