We are looking for an exceptional Industrial Revit Designer to become a permanent member of our Infrastructure design team and help us deliver these facilities.

The Role

The Industrial Revit Designer is responsible for developing and coordinating detailed multidisciplinary BIM models and construction documentation for BlastOne's industrial infrastructure projects.

This is not primarily an architectural drafting position.

 

The successful candidate will work at the intersection of industrial equipment, buildings, mechanical systems, electrical systems and construction, translating engineering requirements and equipment designs into coordinated, buildable facility models.

 

You will work closely with BlastOne engineers, project managers, equipment specialists, customers, consultants and subcontractors throughout the design and construction lifecycle.

 

The role requires someone who can understand complex industrial systems, identify conflicts early and take ownership of developing practical design solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

3D Modeling & Construction Documentation

• Create, develop and maintain complex multidisciplinary models using Autodesk Revit
• Produce construction-quality:
  • Floor plans
  • Equipment layouts
  • Sections
  • Elevations
  • Details
  • Installation drawings
  • Construction documentation
• Develop models from concept design through detailed engineering, fabrication and construction
• Maintain model accuracy as engineering and field conditions evolve
• Develop clear, practical documentation that can be effectively used by construction and installation teams

Industrial Systems Integration

Integrate BlastOne equipment and facility systems including:

• Industrial ventilation systems
• Large-scale ductwork
• Dust collectors
• Blast equipment
• Paint and coating systems
• Compressed-air systems
• Piping
• Material-handling systems
• Electrical equipment
• Lighting systems
• Controls equipment
• Structural and architectural interfaces

 

Interpret and incorporate information from:

• P&IDs
• Equipment drawings
• Vendor documentation
• Engineering calculations
• Electrical drawings
• Mechanical designs
• Architectural and structural models

BIM & Multidiscipline Coordination

• Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and process systems within the overall facility model
• Work with engineers and subcontractors to integrate multiple disciplines into a coordinated design
• Use Navisworks and other coordination tools to identify and resolve clashes
• Participate in design and constructability reviews
• Coordinate models through Autodesk Construction Cloud
• Manage design inputs from external engineering consultants and trade partners
• Identify missing information, inconsistencies and potential design conflicts before they impact construction

Industrial Layout & Constructability

Develop layouts that account for real-world operational requirements including:

• Equipment access and removal
• Maintenance clearances
• Operator access
• Building egress
• Vehicle travel paths
• Forklift and mobile-equipment movement
• Structural interfaces
• Ductwork and piping routing
• Service access
• Construction sequencing
• Installation access

 

The objective is not simply to create an accurate model—it is to create a facility that can be built, operated and maintained effectively.

Equipment Model Integration

• Import and coordinate equipment models from SolidWorks, Inventor and other 3D platforms
• Simplify and convert equipment models where required for effective BIM integration
• Maintain appropriate model detail and performance
• Position equipment accurately based on engineering and operational requirements

Design Development & Problem Solving

• Support projects from early concept through construction and commissioning
• Work with engineers and project teams to solve technical and spatial design challenges
• Respond to field conditions and construction RFIs
• Incorporate approved design changes into project models and documentation
• Support installation teams with drawings, model views and technical information
• Help continuously improve BlastOne's BIM standards, Revit families, templates and design processes

Visualization

• Produce clear 3D views, renderings and visualizations for:
  • Internal design reviews
  • Customer presentations
  • Constructability reviews
  • Installation planning
  • Project coordination

Required Experience & Skills

Software

Advanced capability in:

• Autodesk Revit 2024+
• Navisworks
• Autodesk Construction Cloud / ACC
• AutoCAD

 

Working knowledge of:

• SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor
• Equipment model conversion and optimization for Revit

 

The position requires advanced proficiency across the core Autodesk platforms currently used by the Infrastructure design team.

Industrial Design Experience

Strong experience with industrial or manufacturing environments, ideally involving several of the following:

• Shipyards
• Heavy manufacturing facilities
• Industrial processing facilities
• Blast and paint facilities
• Mechanical systems
• Industrial ventilation
• Dust collection
• Large ductwork
• Piping systems
• Material handling
• Electrical layouts
• Large equipment installation
• Vehicle and equipment movement

 

Candidates should have practical experience with industrial building systems, process integration, ventilation, equipment clearances, maintenance access, duct and pipe routing, material handling and electrical modeling.

Ideal Candidate

 

You are likely to succeed in this role if you are the person others turn to when a Revit model becomes complicated.

 

You are comfortable working with large industrial models containing equipment, ductwork, piping, structural systems, electrical systems and architecture simultaneously.

 

You understand that an industrial BIM model isn't finished simply because everything fits on screen.

 

You naturally ask:

• Can it be installed?
• Can it be maintained?
• Can someone safely access it?
• Can the ductwork actually be supported?
• Does the equipment have enough clearance?
• Can vehicles move through the facility?
• Are the trades going to collide during construction?
• Is this the simplest practical way to build it?

Qualifications

• Demonstrated professional Revit experience
• Significant BIM/modeling experience in industrial, manufacturing or complex engineering environments
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary coordination
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs and equipment documentation
• Strong spatial and technical problem-solving capability
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving design-build environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with engineering, project management and construction teams

Preferred:

 

• Industrial ventilation or dust-collection experience
• Experience supporting design-build construction
• Field or construction experience
• Experience developing Revit standards, families or BIM workflows
