Our purpose is to provide caring, adult professionals and a safe place for youth to learn and grow where hope and opportunity is provided through life-enhancing programs and character development experiences. Before school, after school, during the summer months and on Friday nights, the Boys & Girls Club of Manhattan engages members in fun and educational activities that help develop a sound moral compass and influence their ability to succeed in life.

Directs/manages overall daily operations of the designated site with the primary concern for programs

and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, community relations and membership administration.

Directs/manages overall daily operations of more than one after school and summer program with the primary concern for programs and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, community relations and membership administration.

Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Help establish site programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Encourage and support effective organization roles and functions for Site Coordinators of assigned sites (acting as liaison to sites and keeping them advised of activities and needs) and administrative staff (grant report information; financial and budget documentation; media and community appearances). Hold staff accountable for organizational communications needs
  • Prepares reports and written documentation for the purpose of evaluating the impact of the program.
  • Monitors budgets of assigned sites and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate; expenses and revenues are within budget; program fees are collected according to policy
  • Help ensure a healthy and safe environment regarding facilities, equipment and supplies.
  • Act professionally at all times with all staff , members and parents

  • Maintain close contact with Club staff and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel. Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advise and counsel.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • High School diploma or GED (required)
  • Demonstrated ability in working with children, parents and community leaders
  • Knowledge of youth development
  • Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision and facilities management
  • Ability to deal with the general public (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to supervise and motivate staff
  • Valid State Drivers License (van drivers only)
