About the Role:

Join a team delivering mission-critical technology solutions that support Australian Defence capability. As a Full Stack Software Developer, you will support the Design Team in developing the Project UI/UX for ingestion, import, discovery, and export functions. This will initially involve a combination of front-end work and collaboration with other back-end engineers to develop a capable React based UI/UX, and mature into a data analysis capability over the course of the Project timeline. You will need to be familiar with XML and JSON for data files and be comfortable using schema and associated translation languages (e.g. XSLT, JSLT) for processing data.

This role must be based in Canberra.

• Design, develop and maintain secure, scalable and high-performing full stack software applications supporting Defence and Government capability.
• Develop intuitive, responsive and user-centric interfaces using React and modern front-end technologies to deliver an exceptional user experience.
• Collaborate with solution architects, UX designers, software engineers and stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into software solutions.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and back-end services to support application functionality, data processing and system interoperability.
• Design, process and transform structured data using XML, JSON and associated schema and transformation technologies including XSLT and JSLT.
• Develop functionality supporting data ingestion, import, discovery, analysis and export capabilities across complex information sets.
• Participate in software design, code reviews, testing, debugging and continuous integration activities to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation including software designs, API specifications, user guides and development standards.
• Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues, contributing to continuous improvement and system optimisation.
• Work collaboratively within an Agile, multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver secure, reliable and mission-critical software solutions in accordance with Defence security and engineering standards.

• Australian Citizen (required for Defence projects) with a min AGSVA NV1 clearance. The ability to obtain a Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) security clearance is preferred.
• Experienced with React: substantial experience generating Web Front Ends with the React Framework.
• Experienced JavaScript developer: comfortable working the JavaScript language for front end development.
• Experienced Java developer: comfortable working with Apache Java Based Projects (Kafka, NiFi, Lucene, etc).
• Experience with JSON & XML: comfortable working with JSON/XML and related technologies schemas (XLS/JSON Schema), translation technologies (XSLT, JSLT).
• DataHub framework: comfortable working with, or learning, the DataHub framework in order to provide a data analysis UI front end capability.
• Comfortable with, or capable of learning, key ICT technologies (Virtualisation, Containerisation, Networking, Big Data, Identity Services) and associated solution options (Kubernets, Docker, KeyCloak, LDAP, S3 API, etc).
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Self-starter who takes the initiative with excellent problem-solving skills and brings a solution first mindset.
• A high level of communication both written and verbal.
• Ability to work either individually or as part of a broader team.
