Full Stack Software Developer

As a Full Stack Software Developer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performing software applications that underpin Defence systems and operational capabilities. Working alongside software, systems, cyber, and infrastructure specialists, you will develop intuitive front-end interfaces and robust back-end services while contributing to the full software development lifecycle. Based in Canberra, you will be part of a collaborative and dynamic team with clear pathways to develop into senior systems engineering and cyber security roles.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performance software applications that support Australian Defence capability.
• Develop modern, responsive front-end user interfaces and robust back-end services using contemporary software development frameworks and technologies.
• Analyse functional and technical requirements and translate them into robust, maintainable, and high-quality software solutions.
• Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs, microservices, and database solutions to support distributed and mission-critical applications.
• Participate in the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including solution design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented code while adhering to software engineering best practices, secure coding standards, and quality assurance processes.
• Develop, integrate, test, and support software solutions throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring quality, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Systems Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Cyber Security specialists, and project stakeholders to deliver integrated software solutions.
• Participate in Agile development practices, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, code reviews, and continuous integration activities.
• Continuously improve application performance, usability, security, and maintainability through ongoing optimisation, refactoring, and adoption of modern development practices.

• Australian Citizen (required for Defence projects) with a min AGSVA NV1 clearance. The ability to obtain a Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) security clearance is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience as a Full Stack Software Developer, Software Engineer, or Application Developer delivering enterprise or mission-critical software solutions.
• Strong experience developing modern front-end applications using technologies such as React, Angular, Vue.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Experience developing back-end applications using technologies such as .NET/C#, Java, Python, Node.js, or similar programming languages.
• Experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs, web services, and microservices architectures.
• Strong understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases, including technologies such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MongoDB.
• Experience using source control, CI/CD pipelines, and development tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab, or Jenkins.
• Sound understanding of software engineering principles, including object-oriented design, secure coding practices, automated testing, and code review processes. Excellent stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Self-starter who takes the initiative with excellent problem-solving skills and brings a solution first mindset.
• A high level of communication both written and verbal.
• Ability to work either individually or as part of a broader team.
