Salem Animal Hospital is a five-doctor small animal practice in Salem, NH, committed to excellent medicine, exceptional client service, training, and a positive team culture. As our Pet Care Attendant / Customer Service Representative, you’ll be cross-trained in both front desk and pet care responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to make a difference for our clients, patients, and team throughout the hospital.
Benefit eligibility may vary based on full-time or part-time status. Benefits designated as full-time only are subject to eligibility requirements.

This hands-on, cross-trained role combines client service with compassionate animal care. You’ll help keep the front desk running smoothly while also supporting patients and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
- Greet clients and provide friendly, professional customer service
- Answer and manage a high volume of phone calls
- Schedule appointments and assist clients with questions and requests
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Document client communications
- Prioritize responsibilities and manage competing needs in a busy environment
- Provide compassionate and attentive care to hospitalized patients
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized kennel areas
- Monitor patients and communicate concerns to the appropriate veterinary team members
- Follow hospital protocols for patient care, sanitation, and safety
You don’t need to know everything on day one—we’re looking for someone who is dependable, compassionate, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to the team.
Our ideal candidate:
- Has a genuine love for animals and their well-being
- Enjoys teamwork and contributing to a positive workplace
- Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Is comfortable interacting with clients in person and over the phone
- Can stay organized and positive in a busy, fast-paced environment
- Has strong attention to detail
- Is dependable and compassionate
- Is willing to learn and grow
- Is comfortable being cross-trained in both customer service and pet care responsibilities
- Is ready to jump in and support teammates when needed
- Has veterinary or customer service experience—a plus, but not required
