Cumberland County Guidance Center is seeking a Full-Time Certified Screener to join our Crisis Screening Center team.
This opportunity is ideal for experienced Crisis Clinicians, Psychiatric Screeners, Behavioral Health Clinicians, Mental Health Counselors, Crisis Intervention Specialists, Emergency Services Clinicians, and Social Workers who are passionate about helping individuals in crisis access timely care and appropriate treatment services.
In this role, you'll conduct crisis assessments, provide emergency behavioral health evaluations, coordinate referrals, and work closely with hospitals, law enforcement, treatment providers, and community partners to ensure individuals receive the support they need when it matters most.

Responsibilities
~1 min readAs a Certified Screener, you'll provide critical crisis response and behavioral health assessment services for individuals experiencing psychiatric, emotional, and behavioral health emergencies.
- →Respond to crisis hotline calls and behavioral health referrals
- →Conduct comprehensive mental health screenings and psychiatric assessments
- →Provide crisis intervention, stabilization, and therapeutic support services
- →Assess risk factors including safety concerns, psychiatric symptoms, and service needs
- →Complete face-to-face crisis evaluations in community and emergency settings
- →Coordinate referrals and determine appropriate levels of behavioral healthcare
- →Collaborate with hospitals, emergency departments, law enforcement agencies, treatment providers, and community partners
- →Assist with psychiatric stabilization and emergency intervention planning
- →Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- →Ensure compliance with agency, state, and crisis screening regulations
Requirements
~1 min read- NJDMHS Crisis Training Certification or ability to obtain certification
- Valid New Jersey driver's license
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability to work overnight shifts
- Strong assessment, crisis intervention, communication, and documentation skills
- Experience as a Crisis Clinician, Psychiatric Screener, Mobile Crisis Counselor, Behavioral Health Specialist, Emergency Services Clinician, or Mental Health Assessor
- Experience working in psychiatric emergency services, crisis stabilization, inpatient psychiatric care, or community crisis programs
- Knowledge of suicide risk assessment, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention methodologies
- Experience collaborating with hospitals, law enforcement, and emergency response systems
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Behavioral Health, or a related mental health field
- Minimum one (1) year of psychiatric, behavioral health, or mental health experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Behavioral Health, or a related mental health field
- Minimum three (3) years of mental health experience
- At least one (1) year of experience in a crisis, emergency services, acute-care, psychiatric, or behavioral health setting
