The Industrial Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company’s industrial activities. This position provides leadership to field and shop personnel, coordinates equipment and resources, ensures projects are completed safely and efficiently, and supports the company’s operational and financial objectives.

The Industrial Manager will work closely with management, supervisors, employees, contractors, and clients to ensure work is properly planned, adequately resourced, completed to a high standard, and delivered on schedule.

This position requires a strong understanding of industrial operations, health and safety requirements, personnel management, equipment, logistics, and the unique challenges of working in Yukon conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate operations in Yukon environments.
  • Plan for weather, seasonal conditions, remote access, transportation, accommodation, and logistical requirements.
  • Ensure adequate contingency planning for remote or isolated work locations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with local suppliers, contractors, and service providers where appropriate.
  • Oversee daily industrial and field operations.
  • Plan and coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, transportation, and other resources.
  • Ensure projects and work activities are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Develop work plans, schedules, and operational priorities.
  • Monitor productivity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Coordinate multiple projects and competing operational requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and coverage for operational needs.
  • Work with supervisors and foremen to establish clear expectations and priorities.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to field, shop, and administrative personnel.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee development.
  • Establish clear expectations regarding attendance, productivity, safety, quality, and conduct.
  • Manage employee schedules and coordinate vacation and time-off requirements with operational needs.
  • Address employee concerns and performance issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture.
  • Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure all employees understand and follow company safety procedures.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable Yukon and federal legislation, regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct or participate in safety meetings, inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure employees have the required training, certifications, PPE, and equipment to perform their duties safely.
  • Identify hazards and implement appropriate controls.
  • Ensure incidents, near misses, and safety concerns are properly documented and addressed.
  • Oversee the use, maintenance, and availability of company equipment and vehicles.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Monitor equipment utilization and identify repair or replacement requirements.
  • Ensure equipment is operated safely and maintained in accordance with manufacturer and company requirements.
  • Work with clients to understand project requirements, schedules, and expectations.
  • Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate changes, delays, or operational concerns to management.
  • Ensure work meets contractual requirements and company quality standards.
  • Assist with estimating, budgeting, proposals, and project planning as required.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and community stakeholders.
  • Monitor operational costs, labour hours, equipment utilization, and material expenses.
  • Review timesheets, work orders, purchase orders, and other operational documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs while maintaining safety and quality.
  • Assist management with annual budgets, forecasting, and operational planning.
  • Ensure required reports and documentation are completed accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial, construction, heavy equipment, mining, maintenance, or related operations.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial work practices, equipment, and field operations.
  • Experience managing employees, contractors, and multiple operational priorities.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
  • Strong computer and administrative skills.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Experience working in the Yukon, Northern Canada, mining, or remote industrial environments.
  • Previous experience with heavy equipment operations and maintenance.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • WHMIS and other relevant safety certifications.
  • Experience with fleet management, budgeting, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Class 1 or other applicable commercial driver's licence.
  • May require extended hours, evenings, weekends, or on-call availability depending on operational requirements.
  • Exposure to outdoor and industrial work environments, including cold temperatures, extreme weather, noise, dust, heavy equipment, and remote locations.
