About the role:
The Mechanical Engineer, based in Adelaide, will be a core member of the Product Improvement team in Adelaide contributing to the continual improvement of the Chrysos’ PhotonAssay™ technology.
What you will do:
- Manage, track and oversee the engineering portion (PCE & ECO) of assigned Product Change Orders (PCOs), meeting agreed timeframe, costs & performance with suitable documentation to enable successful implementation on each affected PhotonAssayTM system globally.
- Identification of performance, safety and reliability improvements to PhotonAssayTM
- Partake in troubleshooting investigations of mechanical issues with existing PhotonAssayTM systems globally.
- Design, validate and document:
- Design of Experiments (DoE)
- Root cause analysis
- Design and build of test equipment
- Accelerated life testing
- Data capture and analysis
- Report out on test/ validation work
- Perform maintenance on the Standalone Automation System.
- Maintain the configuration of the Standalone Automation System to match current production configuration.
- Create and validate Work Instructions (WI) and Bill of Materials (BoM) for Product Change Orders.
- Be actively engaged in Chrysos’ culture of safety and zero-harm.
- Engage closely with suppliers including our major contractor.
- Interact with scientists and engineers in the Chrysos Product Improvement & Development teams.
- Collaborate with Product Change Specialist, Supply Chain, Maintenance & Deployment for implementation of PCOs
- Collaborate with Maintenance Engineers to identify faults and root causes.
Who you are:
Essential
- A tertiary qualification in engineering, preferably mechanical or mechatronics or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years’ experience in an engineering role.
- Experience with 3D parametric modelling software, such as Onshape or Inventor.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of technical documentation, functional specifications, and schematic drawings.
- Able and willing to travel both interstate and internationally.
- Experience working hands on.
Desirable
- Experience with AutoCAD for the creation of design drawings.
- Knowledge of machine safety and associated regulations and the world.
- Experience working in the mining industry or developing products for mining applications; or experience in material or sample handling applications such as laboratory automation, automotive machine design and food packaging.
- Experience with the specification of refrigeration and HVAC systems for sensitive equipment.
- Experience designing equipment containing radiation sources.
- Experience working with global teams and cultures
