POSITION SUMMARY

The Multimedia Communications Specialist is a creative, hands-on member of the Communications and Marketing team responsible for developing engaging multimedia and digital content that advances the organization's brand, mission, programs and strategic priorities.


This position combines video and audio production, graphic design, digital marketing and content creation. The ideal candidate is a versatile visual storyteller who enjoys taking ideas from concept to completion. That can be shooting and editing a video, producing a podcast, designing graphics or helping execute a digital marketing campaign.


This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career communications or marketing professional with strong multimedia skills who wants to build experience across multiple creative and digital disciplines.


WHERE YOU WILL WORK

This position can be hybrid at the Austin, Texas National Headquarters Office. 


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

You are expected to perform the following essential responsibilities of the position with reasonable accommodation. The position may include other responsibilities as assigned.

Multimedia Production

  • Shoots, edits, and produces video content for social media, websites, email, events, presentations, and other communications channels.
  • Develops short-form and long-form video content, including interviews, promotional videos, educational content, testimonials, event highlights, and social media reels.
  • Assists with video concepts, storyboards, and production planning.
  • Sets up and operate cameras, lighting, microphones, and other video and audio production equipment.
  • Records, edits, and produce podcasts and other audio content.
  • Captures photography and video at organizational programs, meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Edits and optimizes multimedia content for different digital platforms and audiences.
  • Organizes and maintains the organization's library of video, photography, audio, and other digital assets.

Digital Communications & Marketing

  • Assists with the development and execution of organic and paid digital marketing campaigns.
  • Develops digital content for websites, email campaigns, social media, and other online channels.
  • Assists with maintaining and updating website content.
  • Creates and publishes engaging content for the organization's social media channels.
  • Monitors social media and digital content performance and assists with reporting on key metrics.
  • Applies basic principles of digital marketing, including audience targeting, engagement, calls to action, and content optimization.
  • Stays current on emerging social media platforms, digital trends, and multimedia best practices and recommend new approaches when appropriate.

Graphic Design & Visual Communications

  • Designs graphics and visual assets for social media, websites, email, digital advertising, presentations, events, and other communications needs.
  • Creates infographics, digital advertisements, promotional materials, and other branded content.
  • Adapts existing designs and templates for different communications channels and audiences.
  • Ensures visual materials consistently follow organizational brand standards.
  • Works collaboratively with staff and external partners to translate communications needs into effective visual content.

Communications & Marketing Support

  • Supports communications and marketing campaigns, programs, events, and special projects.
  • Collaborates with colleagues throughout the organization to identify opportunities for compelling stories and multimedia content.
  • Assists with communications and marketing projects as needed.
  • Coordinates with outside vendors, photographers, videographers, designers, or other creative partners when appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, digital media, multimedia production, graphic design, film/video production or a related field.
  • An associate degree and equivalent relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis above the minimum experience requirement.

Experience

Required:

  • Two or more years of professional experience in communications, marketing, multimedia production, digital content creation, or a related field. Relevant internships, freelance assignments and substantial project-based experience may be considered as part of the professional experience requirement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

  • Strong video shooting and editing skills with software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or comparable platforms.
  • Strong graphic design skills with tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign, and/or Canva.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office 365 modules.
  • Demonstrated proficiency producing short-form video for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and/or TikTok.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with motion graphics or animation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with podcast production and audio-editing software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency developing content for a membership organization, nonprofit, association or mission-driven organization.
  • Working knowledge of cameras, microphones, lighting, and basic video/audio production equipment.
  • Knowledge of recording and editing audio or podcasts.
  • Good understanding of major social media platforms and how content should be adapted for each.
  • Basic knowledge of digital marketing principles and digital campaign execution.
  • Strong visual storytelling instincts.
  • Ability to perform tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks, projects, priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated team player with ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies, platforms, and creative techniques.
  • Sound judgment and professionalism when representing the organization.
  • Strong work ethic and dependability.
  • Good initiative.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with website content management systems.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms.
  • Exposure to paid social media or digital advertising platforms.
  • Familiarity with web and social media analytics.

Other

  • Ability to travel to AANP Conferences when required (approximately 3% per year).

COMPENSATION

AANP offers attractive compensation. The expected rate of pay for this position is $63,000 - $73,000 annualized, depending on experience.
