Data Domain Architect III

The Data Engineering, Analytics & Governance (DEAG) organization owns Clayton's enterprise data strategy, architecture, and delivery of trusted data products and business insights. The team leads the Data Enablement Framework (DEF), which prioritizes and delivers on that mission — starting with a Single Definition of Truth (SDOT) — on top of the Clayton Data Fabric (CDF), our strategic platform for secure, scalable data access across the enterprise.

Built on Microsoft Azure, Azure Databricks, and modern cloud data technologies, DEAG modernizes Clayton's data ecosystem, establishes enterprise data standards, and delivers data products that power advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, operational reporting, and business decision-making — including through Ask Data, our vision for self-serve access to trusted data across AI, BI, and API use cases.

Through close partnership with business and technology leaders, DEAG advances data enablement — building scalable cloud-native solutions, growing trust in the data that powers the business, and accelerating the adoption of AI and advanced analytics capabilities across the enterprise.

Primary Responsibilities

• Define business capability roadmaps, in partnership with key business leaders,

coordinating with key technical roadmaps and programs.

• Lead functional and technical discussions and communicate effectively with a

variety of audiences, moving between providing functional/technical design details

and sharing how a technical design would enhance business capabilities, stability,

and supportability.

• Work effectively with business groups, technology groups, and subject matter

experts in a collaborative manner, building constructive and effective relationships.

• Leverage the current Clayton technology portfolio, enterprise architectural

standards, and established patterns to create solution designs that deliver the

required business capabilities and map to desired features/capabilities on the

roadmaps.

• Partner with the business leadership and development team in the design, testing

and deployment of changes to ensure the solution meets the agreed upon business

requirements and is supportable and scalable.

• Designs and implements solutions which will adequately address the enterprise

infrastructure needs of the organization.

• Analyzes system requirements and ensures that systems will offer security and will

be effectively integrated with current applications.

• Drive design of key technical components, frameworks, interfaces, and services that

can be leveraged by teams of developers or systems engineers, and provide

leadership over product evaluations, proof of concepts, and product

implementations.

• Adapt architecture roadmap periodically as the business strategy and goals evolve

to ensure ongoing alignment between the business strategy and the architecture

strategy.

• Ensure designs support scalability, quality, performance, security, maintainability

and architectural integrity, and ensure solutions are delivered in alignment with the

defined architecture strategies and goals.

• Collaborate with technology leaders to ensure the program is taking advantage of

appropriate architecture frameworks and remains in compliance with established

security practices.

Primary Qualifications

• Microsoft Azure

• Azure Databricks

• Microsoft Fabric

• Seven or more years’ experience in a software development, technical

infrastructure, or general technology environment -OR- similar experience in a

business area to provide relevant expertise as it relates to technology

implementations.

• Proficient in diagramming tools (Visio, LucidChart)

• Experience with implementing Architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman,

or related frameworks in a business environment preferred, but not required

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to

interact with a diverse group of team members, including executives, managers, end

users across a variety of business units, technology professionals, and subject

matter experts.
