About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Business Systems Engineer – Vertex Tax Systems to lead the strategy, architecture, implementation, and optimization of our global tax technology landscape. This role will serve as the technical leader for Vertex and related tax platforms, partnering closely with Tax, Finance, Accounting, IT Engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, compliant, and automated tax solutions that support CoreWeave’s rapid global growth.

The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise implementing, configuring, integrating, and supporting Vertex O Series or Vertex Cloud Indirect Tax in production; strong global indirect-tax domain knowledge; and experience integrating tax platforms with ERP, billing, procurement, and other enterprise applications. Experience with Vertex Returns, Data Integrity, Accelerator, exemption-certificate management, or e-Invoicing solutions is highly desirable.

This is a hands-on individual-contributor role with no direct reports. The successful candidate will personally lead solution design, configuration, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and production support while influencing teams across Tax, Finance, Accounting, and Engineering.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture, configuration, enhancement, and support of NetSuite Core Financials and Tax systems.
  • Drive automation and optimization across Core Financials processes including General Ledger (GL), intercompany accounting, consolidations, financial close, and financial/statutory reporting.
  • Design and support tax solutions including Sales & Use Tax, VAT/GST, and global tax compliance processes.
  • Implement and maintain integrations between NetSuite and tax-related enterprise applications including tax engines, e-invoicing platforms, procurement systems, billing platforms, and financial reporting solutions to support global tax compliance and reporting.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting and Tax teams to improve operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Develop and support NetSuite customizations using SuiteScript, SuiteFlow, Saved Searches, Dashboards, and SuiteTalk APIs.
  • Lead end-to-end ERP projects including requirements gathering, solution design, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
  • Ensure SOX compliance, audit readiness, data governance, and financial controls across systems and processes.
  • Drive system standardization, scalability, and best practices for enterprise financial operations.
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert for NetSuite Financials and Tax systems.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience implementing or supporting enterprise tax technology, indirect-tax systems, ERP tax solutions, or related financial systems.
  • Demonstrated hands-on production experience implementing, configuring, integrating, enhancing, or supporting Vertex O Series or Vertex Cloud Indirect Tax.
  • Strong understanding of global indirect-tax processes, including Sales and Use Tax, VAT, GST, taxability, jurisdiction management, and exemptions.
  • Experience integrating Vertex with at least one major ERP platform, such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics, JD Edwards, or Infor.
  • Experience integrating Vertex with one or more enterprise transaction systems, such as billing, procurement, e-commerce, CRM, or data platforms.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, middleware, iPaaS platforms, web services, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Ability to define integration architecture, system boundaries, sources of truth, data mappings, calculation flows, error handling, reconciliation, monitoring, controls, auditability, and scalability requirements.
  • Experience leading tax-technology projects from business discovery and requirements gathering through design, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex tax-calculation, configuration, data-quality, and integration issues.
  • Experience supporting SOX controls, tax audits, data governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to operate as a hands-on Staff-level individual contributor and influence cross-functional global teams.
  • Vertex O Series certification.
  • Experience with Vertex Returns, Data Integrity, Accelerator, exemption-certificate management, or e-Invoicing solutions.
  • Experience migrating from Avalara or another tax engine to Vertex.
  • Knowledge of global e-invoicing, Intrastat, e-reporting, and Continuous Transaction Controls.
  • Experience supporting multinational, multi-entity organizations.
  • Familiarity with ASC 606 and financial accounting processes.
  • Experience in cloud-first, high-growth, publicly traded organizations.
  • Knowledge of AI-enabled automation and emerging tax-technology capabilities.

The base salary range for this role is $188,000 to $275,000. The starting salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. We strive for both market alignment and internal equity when determining compensation. In addition to base salary, our total rewards package includes a discretionary bonus, equity awards, and a comprehensive benefits program (all based on eligibility).
