You will be joining a dynamic and fast-growing property development company specializing in small to medium-scale residential new builds and conversion projects. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing construction plans, preparing detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates, and developing accurate project budgets. You will also lead negotiations with contractors and vendors while fostering strong relationships with site managers and third-party stakeholders.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing project costs, monitoring schedules, and ensuring the timely and successful delivery of construction projects. This position demands a structured and detail-oriented approach, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively coordinate between multiple project stakeholders.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Review construction drawings and specifications to prepare detailed quantity take-offs and material requirements.
- →Prepare pre-construction documentation, including project budget, schedules, procurement plans, contracts, and other essential documents prior to project commencement.
- →Collaborate closely with site managers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.
- →Manage and monitor two projects simultaneously, providing regular progress and status reports to stakeholders.
- →Oversee material sourcing and procurement processes, including vendor coordination, negotiation, and cost analysis.
- →Manage utility applications and liaise directly with utility providers for new service connections, system upgrades, and regulatory compliance.
- →Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and promote safe working practices on site.
- →Prepare feasibility and cost analyses to support development financing and coordinate with the finance team during project fund drawdowns.
- →Provide cost-effective recommendations and identify opportunities for process or design improvements to enhance project performance.
- →Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quantity surveying, cost estimation, and project management.
- Strong ability to interpret and analyze architectural and engineering drawings.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in cost estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with UK building regulations, standards, and codes of practice is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on effective cost management.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple priorities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Team-focused with a proactive and cooperative approach to achieving project goals.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
