Construction ManagerQuantity SurveyorConstruction & Real Estate
An established Pan-African real estate and development group is seeking an experienced South African Quantity Surveyor with strong Project Management experience to oversee the development of luxury eco-lodges in Kenya for a 2 year contract. This is a unique opportunity to combine your commercial expertise with hands-on project leadership while working on a high-profile hospitality project in one of Africa's most breathtaking destinations. Responsibilities Translate designs into buildable work. Interpret the design packages as issued and develop a sequenced plan of works on site, defining the order of activities and the requirements of each trade before work commences. Manage the programme. Monitor progress against the agreed programme, identify slippage at an early stage, and take the decisions on site required to maintain momentum. Report delays to management promptly. Direct site logistics. Ensure that the correct materials, tools, and labour are available on site when required, planning for long lead times, extended supply lines, seasonal road access, and the constraints of operating in remote areas of Tanzania. Lead in-house works. Manage in-house site teams and contractors directly for works delivered by MKSC, maintaining pace, resolving issues, and enforcing quality standards. Manage external contractors. For contracted works, monitor progress, quality, and adherence to the design and programme, and hold contractors accountable for their performance. Control quality of workmanship. Inspect works across all trades, reject work that does not meet the required standard, and ensure that defects are rectified before works proceed. Represent management on site. Report clearly and regularly, escalate matters that require a management decision, and exercise sound judgement independently where management cannot be reached. Requirements • Proven construction management experience on lodge, camp, or hospitality projects in remote locations. This is an essential requirement, not a preference. • The ability to operate effectively with limited infrastructure, extended supply lines, and minimal on-site support, including independent decision-making. • Strong programme discipline and a consistent, uncompromising approach to quality. • The ability to lead in-house teams directly and to hold external contractors to the same standard. Advantageous • Familiarity with the East African construction context, including local suppliers, labour, materials, and permitting requirements. The role requires extended periods away from Arusha at remote sites, where the Construction Manager will frequently be the most senior representative present. Candidates should be prepared for sustained travel, demanding logistics, and a high degree of on-site autonomy. Kindly consider your application unsuccessful should you not be contacted within 7 working days
