Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations utilizing clinical interviews, psychological testing, medical records, and collateral information.
  • Diagnose mental health conditions in accordance with the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide individual, group, family, and crisis intervention services.
  • Deliver evidence-based psychotherapy for a variety of behavioral health conditions including anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, adjustment disorders, and other psychological concerns.
  • Assist patients coping with medical conditions, injuries, chronic illnesses, and rehabilitation challenges.
  • Collaborate with physicians, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Provide behavioral health consultation to healthcare providers and command leadership as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical record systems.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, treatment planning meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with professional ethics, credentialing requirements, and applicable military healthcare regulations.
  • Support health promotion, prevention, and resiliency programs within the military community.

Requirements

  • Education and Certifications:
    • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
    • Graduate from an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited college or university
    • Additional specialty training as required by applicable DHA credentialing standards
    • Successful completion of an APA-accredited psychology internship
    • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice psychology in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
  • Required Experience:
    • Clinical experience sufficient to meet Medical Treatment Facility credentialing and privileging requirements
    • Experience providing psychological assessments, diagnosis, and treatment in clinical settings
  • Skills & Competencies
    • Comprehensive knowledge of psychological assessment and treatment methodologies
    • Expertise in diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning
    • Strong understanding of evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to function effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working in military, federal healthcare, or Department of Defense environments
    • Experience treating service members and military families
    • Familiarity with electronic health record systems utilized within military healthcare settings
  • Work Environment
    • Military Treatment Facility setting supporting active-duty military personnel and beneficiaries
    • Collaborative healthcare environment with multidisciplinary teams
    • May require participation in readiness-related and behavioral health initiatives
