  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $124,322 to $138,494 + super

 

Our Strategic Policy, Science and Engagement team is establishing a talent pool for Senior Scientists to lead complex scientific projects and provide expert technical advice across water, wetland and coastal science programs.

 

In this role, you will lead and deliver science projects that inform environmental programs, policy and decision‑making. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders across government, research institutions and industry to design and deliver projects, manage resources and ensure outcomes meet end‑user needs. The role involves providing high‑level scientific advice, preparing technical reports and briefings, and contributing to strategic science priorities through strong partnerships and effective knowledge sharing. You will be part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary team focused on delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based outcomes for the environment.

 

 

You are an experienced scientist with a strong background in delivering scientific projects, ideally within water, wetland or coastal environments. You have demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, coordinating resources and reporting on outcomes, and are confident working with complex technical and scientific information to support environmental programs and policy development.

 

You are a collaborative and proactive professional who builds effective relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. With strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, you can translate complex scientific concepts into clear, practical insights for varied audiences. You are adaptable, organised and motivated, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and integrity in your work.

  • Well-developed knowledge and experience in developing and delivering rigorous science projects.
  • Experience in project management including allocation of resources, and ability to report on results achieved.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and work with technical and scientific information in the context of
  • environmental programs including operational policy and program development.
