Position Summary

The Part-Time Nursing Simulation Program Designer supports the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of simulation-based learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. This position works collaboratively with nursing faculty and program leadership to ensure simulation and skills laboratory experiences align with course outcomes, clinical competencies, and current standards of nursing practice.

The Simulation Program Designer will provide hands-on support for nursing simulation and skills experiences, assist faculty with simulation development and implementation, and help ensure students receive consistent, high-quality opportunities to develop and demonstrate clinical competence.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with nursing faculty and program leadership to develop and implement simulation and skills laboratory experiences aligned with nursing course and program outcomes.
  • Develop, review, and update nursing simulation scenarios using evidence-based practice and current healthcare simulation standards.
  • Coordinate nursing simulation and skills laboratory schedules in collaboration with faculty and program leadership.
  • Prepare simulation environments, equipment, supplies, and technology for scheduled nursing simulation and skills experiences.
  • Facilitate and support nursing simulation experiences, skills practice, competency validation, and student check-offs as needed.
  • Assist nursing students with developing and strengthening clinical skills in preparation for clinical experiences and professional nursing practice.
  • Support faculty in the use of simulation pedagogy, prebriefing, facilitation, and evidence-based debriefing techniques.
  • Collaborate with nursing faculty to identify student learning needs and develop simulation or skills experiences that address identified gaps.
  • Maintain simulation and skills laboratory equipment and supplies and communicate equipment, technology, and supply needs to nursing leadership.
  • Assist with orientation of nursing faculty and adjunct clinical instructors to simulation and skills laboratory processes and equipment.
  • Support the integration of simulation throughout the undergraduate and Direct Entry MSN nursing curricula.
  • Participate in evaluation and continuous quality improvement of nursing simulation experiences.
  • Maintain simulation documentation and assist with data collection needed for nursing program evaluation, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Remain current with best practices and professional standards in nursing and healthcare simulation, including INACSL standards.
  • Participate in professional development related to nursing simulation and clinical education.
  • Teach or provide instructional support within the School of Nursing as needed and within qualifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of simulation-based education, clinical skills instruction, and nursing competency assessment preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and technology skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with undergraduate and graduate nursing students, faculty, and program leadership.
  • Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education & Experience

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or higher required.
  • Current, unencumbered RN license.
  • Clinical nursing experience required.
  • Previous experience in nursing education, simulation, skills laboratory instruction, or clinical education preferred.

This is a part-time, staff, non-exempt position. The starting wage may be determined upon education and/or experience. Tuition benefits are available for employees; however, there are no other benefits associated with this position.
