As a Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS)—our internal title for Medical Scribes—you will serve as a core team member working side-by-side with primary care providers. You will handle real-time clinical documentation during patient encounters, allowing providers to give their full, uninterrupted attention to patient care.

Beyond live charting, you will complete training in value-based medicine, chronic condition documentation, and ICD-10/CPT coding to actively support care-gap closure.

• Ideal for Pre-Health Pathways: This position provides paid, immersive clinical exposure and direct physician mentorship. It is an ideal launching pad for pre-med (MD/DO), PA, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or Health Sciences majors candidates seeking 1–2+ years of professional clinical experience.

• →Direct Encounter Charting (80%): Accurately capture real-time patient visits in the EMR (HPI, ROS, Physical Exam, Assessment, and Plan). Assign CPT/ICD-10 codes and prepare clear After Visit Summaries.
• →Clinical Documentation Improvement (10%): Retrieve external medical records, leverage population health tools to identify documentation gaps, and help lead daily team huddles.
• →Administrative & Workflow Support (10%): Process orders and referrals, resolve clinical tasks, and keep clinic workflows running efficiently.

• Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge of medical terminology and common pharmaceuticals.
  • Excellent computer proficiency, active listening, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to a minimum of 1 year in the role (2+ years strongly preferred).
  • Reliable, predictable on-site attendance during standard operating hours.
  • Full compliance with HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.
  • Valid US work authorization.
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (we cannot accommodate an alternative schedule)
• Preferred:
  • 60+ WPM typing speed.
  • Prior clinical exposure (shadowing, healthcare volunteering, or direct patient care).

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
