AI Engineering Consultant (Zurich, Switzerland)

In this role, you will advise our clients on the design and implementation of production-grade AI solutions, from generative AI applications and agentic systems to machine learning use cases embedded in business processes. You will translate business problems into robust AI architectures, build and evaluate solutions hands-on, and take them beyond the prototype into reliable, governed production systems on platforms such as Databricks or Azure. Based in our Zurich office, you will work with your team to provide our clients with the high quality and reliability we are known for.

Your tasks will include:

• Analysis of business and technical requirements, and identification of AI use cases with clear business value
• Design and implementation of AI solutions such as RAG systems, AI agents, and LLM-powered applications, in close collaboration with client and project teams
• Setting up evaluation, monitoring, and guardrails so that AI solutions are measurable, reliable, and safe to operate
• Integration of AI solutions into existing data platforms, applications, and business processes
• Contribution to data & AI initiatives across cloud architecture, data engineering, data science, and AI governance
• Communication of recommendations, insights, and results to senior stakeholders and management

What you bring:

• At least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; an MSc or PhD is strongly preferred
• Domain knowledge in at least one industry
• A highly analytical and structured mindset, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex topics clearly and convincingly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (mandatory); German is strongly preferred
• 3+ years of proven experience in software engineering, ML engineering, or data science, including at least one AI or ML solution taken into production
• Hands-on experience building LLM-based applications (e.g. RAG, agents, tool use, prompt and context engineering) and evaluating them systematically
• Strong Python and software engineering fundamentals (APIs, testing, CI/CD, version control), plus solid SQL
• Experience with Databricks (Mosaic AI, MLflow, AI Vector Search) and/or Azure AI services (Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI), or comparable platforms such as AWS Bedrock or Google Vertex AI
• Hands-on experience with orchestration libraries such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, and with vector stores such as pgvector, Qdrant, Chroma or FAISS.
• Familiarity with MLOps/LLMOps practices and responsible AI principles.
• An eye for performance and cost: latency, throughput, token economics and caching.
