Vice President of Finance

Defendify is looking for a proven Vice President of Finance to lead the company's finance and accounting function, with strong, hands on controllership at the center of the role.

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure Defendify's books, financial statements, cash position, and daily financial operations are accurate, timely, disciplined, and ready to support continued growth. You will directly oversee the general ledger, monthly close, account reconciliations, revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, collections, payroll coordination, cash management, and internal controls.

You will also lead budgeting, forecasting, cash and runway planning, variance analysis, and the SaaS and operating metrics that help leadership understand performance and make informed decisions.

The role extends beyond controllership and planning. You will prepare financial analysis and narratives for leadership and Board presentations, partner with business leaders on vendor and commercial negotiations, coordinate commercial contract reviews with Defendify's corporate attorney, and support equity fundraising, debt financing, lender relationships, and financial diligence as needed.

• Lead the complete day to day finance and accounting operation, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, collections, payroll coordination, cash management, banking, and relationships with accountants and other financial advisors
• Own the controllership function, including the general ledger, chart of accounts, journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, deferred revenue, revenue recognition, and a timely and disciplined monthly close
• Produce accurate GAAP financial statements and management reporting while maintaining accounting policies, internal controls, approval processes, and documentation that support tax compliance, audit readiness, and continued growth
• Own budgets, forecasts, cash flow and runway planning, variance analysis, scenario models, and other forward looking financial planning required to help leadership manage the business
• Develop and report the SaaS and operating metrics that drive the business, including ARR, MRR, bookings, churn, retention, gross margin, CAC, and CAC payback, and establish a KPI driven operating cadence aligned with company goals
• Present financial performance, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to the leadership team, and prepare clear, accurate, and decision focused financial materials for the Board of Directors
• Partner with the appropriate business leaders on vendor and commercial negotiations, providing financial analysis and support on pricing, payment terms, renewals, purchasing commitments, and other financial considerations
• Support equity fundraising and debt financing through financial models, data rooms, diligence, lender and investor information, and transaction support, while building the systems, processes, controls, and team required as Defendify scales

• Proven finance leadership experience in a growth stage B2B SaaS, cybersecurity, managed services, or recurring revenue technology company
• Deep, hands on controllership experience with direct ownership of the general ledger, monthly close, account reconciliations, GAAP financial statements, revenue recognition, deferred revenue, accounting policies, and internal controls
• Demonstrated ability to manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, collections, payroll coordination, cash management, banking, and the daily financial operation of a growing company
• Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash and runway planning, SaaS metrics, unit economics, variance analysis, and translating financial information into business decisions
• Experience preparing for audits, coordinating tax and financial compliance work, and creating the documentation and controls required to produce reliable financial information
• A record of presenting to executive leadership and Boards of Directors, with the judgment and communication skills to explain performance, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly
• Experience partnering with business leaders on vendor and commercial negotiations, coordinating contract reviews with counsel, and supporting financing and financial diligence
• The ability to move comfortably between detailed accounting execution and broader financial leadership with urgency, accuracy, discretion, judgment, and accountability; a CPA, MBA, or similar credential is valued but not required

The monthly close is timely and disciplined, reconciliations are complete, and leadership can rely on accurate GAAP financial statements and management reporting

Billing, collections, payables, cash management, revenue recognition, and other daily financial operations run efficiently, with appropriate controls and no avoidable surprises

Budgets, forecasts, cash projections, and SaaS metrics provide a reliable view of performance, risks, opportunities, and future resource needs

A KPI driven operating cadence aligns financial and business metrics with company goals, establishes clear ownership and targets, and turns variances into timely action

Defendify has scalable financial systems, policies, models, controls, and diligence materials that support growth, Board reporting, audits, and future financing activities

We are looking for a hands on finance leader who can move comfortably from the general ledger, monthly close, cash management, and contract reviews to forecasts, leadership decisions, Board presentations, and financing diligence.

At its core, this role is responsible for keeping the financial foundation accurate and the finance operation running well. From that foundation, you will help Defendify understand the numbers, act on them, and build a stronger business.
