Responsibilities Position Purpose: The Estimator supports the tendering and estimating function across the client, assisting in the preparation of accurate, timely and well-documented estimates for tank, wastewater, stormwater and industrial products and projects. Working closely with the Estimating Team Lead, Technical Estimator(s), Sales, Engineering and Projects teams, the role performs take-offs, builds cost estimates, coordinates tender inputs and keeps quote records current in the ERP system. The role takes the lead on stormwater quotations and provides estimating support across the wider pipeline. The priorities for the engagement are continuity — quote turnaround, estimate accuracy and tender deadlines maintained through the cover period — and clean, current records that support a smooth handover at the end of the engagement. The position suits someone with a technical mindset who is developing their estimating experience and keen to grow within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. 1. Estimate & Quotation Preparation Document review: Review enquiry and tender documents — specifications, drawings and scopes of work — to establish scope, inclusions, exclusions and risks before pricing begins. Quantity take-offs: Perform quantity take-offs and material and labour calculations from drawings and specifications; document the basis of each take-off so it can be reviewed and reused. Cost estimates & quotes: Prepare quotes, cost estimates and tender pricing under the guidance of the Estimating Team Lead and senior estimators, applying current rates, supplier pricing and standard mark-ups. Stormwater quotations: Take the lead on stormwater quotations end-to-end — scoping, take-off, layout drawing (2D AutoCAD) pricing and quote issue — escalating non-standard items or pricing outside delegated limits for review. Supplier pricing: Obtain and validate supplier and subcontractor pricing and lead times for inclusion in estimates; record quotations against the estimate file. 2. Tender Coordination & Submission Tender tracking: Monitor and track tender timelines, addenda and submission requirements; keep the tender register current and flag deadline risk early. Proposal documentation: Assist with the documentation and formatting of proposals, tender submissions, vendor/product data sheets and applications to Coerco's standards. Input coordination: Coordinate inputs from Sales, Engineering and Projects teams so that estimates and submissions are complete, consistent and on time. Clarifications: Draft tender clarifications and RFIs for review; log responses and reflect them in the estimate and submission. 3. Systems, Data & Records ERP quote entry: Enter quotes and estimates into the company ERP system accurately and promptly; keep quote statuses current through to award or close-out. Estimate records: Maintain complete estimate files — take-offs, pricing basis, supplier quotes and assumptions — so that estimates are auditable and reusable. Templates & rate data: Help maintain estimating templates, rate libraries and standard cost data; flag outdated rates and supplier pricing for update. 4. Development & Continuity Project reviews: Participate in project review meetings on completed jobs; compare estimated against actual costs and apply lessons to future estimates. 5. Industry & product knowledge: Continually develop understanding of Coerco's products, industry standards and estimating practices. 6. Cover continuity & handover: Maintain continuity of the estimating workload through the cover period; keep records and registers current to support a clean handover at the end of the engagement. Authority and Decision Rights: The Estimator has authority to: Prepare and issue quotations within delegated pricing limits and standard rates set by the Estimating Team Lead, including standard stormwater quotations. Request pricing and lead times from approved suppliers and subcontractors. Coordinate estimate and tender inputs from Sales, Engineering and Projects teams. Enter and maintain quotes, estimates and registers in the ERP system. Decisions reserved for the Estimating Team Lead (or above): Pricing, margins and commercial terms outside delegated limits or standard rates. Final review and sign-off of tenders and non-standard quotations before submission. Commercial qualifications, departures and contract terms. Commitments to suppliers or subcontractors beyond requests for pricing. Reports to: Estimating Team Lead Key internal relationships: Estimating Team Lead — work allocation, pricing guidance, review and sign-off of estimates and tenders Technical Estimator(s) — guidance on cost build-ups, estimating methods and non-standard scopes Sales & Customer Service — enquiry details, customer requirements, quote handover and follow-up Engineering & Drafting — technical inputs, drawings, specifications and bills of materials Projects & Production — buildability, labour and lead-time inputs; feedback from delivered jobs Suppliers and subcontractors — pricing, lead times and vendor/product data Requirements Technical: -Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience. -1–2 years' experience in an engineering, construction, manufacturing or industrial estimating or technical sales environment. -Exposure to tendering and estimating processes; able to read and interpret specifications and drawings. -Competent in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with estimating tools or ERP systems an advantage. -Intermediate (2D layout) AutoCAD skills highly desirable. Operational: -High attention to detail with strong analytical skills. -Organised and able to manage time and competing deadlines effectively. -Disciplined with records — take-offs, pricing basis and quote files kept complete and current. Behavioural: -Clear communicator with good interpersonal skills across internal teams, suppliers and customers. -Motivated, curious and willing to learn from others. -Team-oriented and proactive in seeking support and escalating early when needed.
