The Social Media Specialist is responsible for leading and executing the company's enterprise organic social media strategy across corporate channels. As a key member of the External (Corporate) Communications team, this role develops and amplifies the organization's narrative through engaging, audience-centric social content while ensuring alignment with brand, communications and business priorities.
The Social Media Specialist oversees owned social media channels, drives employee advocacy programs, manages community engagement, monitors brand reputation and provides strategic guidance on best practices and governance for social media. This role works cross-functionally with External Communications, Brand, Marketing, Human Resources, Regional Teams, Business Units, Creative Services and Executive Leadership to maximize the impact of social media across the enterprise.
Success in this role is measured through audience engagement, share of voice, brand visibility, and the effective amplification of company messaging and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain and evolve the enterprise organic social media strategy and channels, governance standards and platform best practices.
- Own the planning, development, creation and publication of organic social media content across corporate channels.
- Manage the social media editorial calendar, ensuring content aligns with business priorities, campaigns, events and communications initiatives.
- Write, edit, review and optimize social media copy while maintaining brand voice and messaging consistency that strengthens brand reputation and awareness.
- Translate business priorities and corporate narratives into engaging visual, video and multimedia channel-appropriate content.
- Lead and manage the company’s employee advocacy program, including strategies that encourage employee participation and social sharing.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on social media trends, platform updates, emerging technologies and audience behaviors.
- Community management and conduct social listening to identify audience trends, emerging issues, potential risks and engagement opportunities.
- Monitor channel performance and utilize data and analytics to optimize content strategies and improve social media effectiveness.
- Coordinate social media support for campaigns, announcements, executive communications, employment brand and enterprise initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related fields or relevant experience.
- 2 - 3 years of experience managing corporate social media programs, communications, public relations, or digital content strategies.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing B2B organic social media strategies.
- Strong understanding of major social platforms including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and emerging channels.
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt messaging across audiences and platforms.
- Experience managing content calendars and multi-channel publishing programs.
- Knowledge of social listening, community management, and online reputation management practices.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Travel: Potential quarterly travel
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with social media management, listening and analytics platforms.
- Experience leading employee advocacy and employer brand initiatives.
- Knowledge of brand governance, communications strategy and crisis communications principles.
- Experience supporting executive communications and thought leadership programs.
- Experience working within complex, global or matrixed organizations.
The annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000.
Actual compensation will depend on factors such as qualifications, skills, competencies, geographic location, and relevant experience. Certain roles may include additional components beyond base salary, such as incentive opportunities or other forms of variable compensation. Details of any such components will be discussed during the interview process and will be governed by the applicable plan documents.
