RIS - CC-Refugee Case Manager

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge is seeking a full-time Spanish and English Fluent Refugee Case Manager (RCM) who is responsible for providing trauma informed, culturally sensitive case management services for ORR eligible refugees served under all refugee resettlement programs. The RCM will conduct comprehensive intake and assessments of client needs as well as develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate individual service plans to include goal attainment and outcome measures for each client. Promote a peaceful, healing environment by utilizing the principles and practices of trauma-informed care and positive youth development in all aspects of work and youth engagement, including crisis prevention, intervention, and de-escalation. Participate in weekly case reviews and communicate regularly with Lead Case Manager. Link clients with appropriate community supports and provide advocacy to ensure goal attainment is achieved. This position requires Spanish/English fluency and maintaining external relationships and representing the agency to the public, as such it also requires a polished business-like demeanor and professional appearance, which excludes unnatural hair color, conspicuous body art and facial piercings.    Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or other relevant degree. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements Fluency in English and Spanish is REQUIRED Valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance required Completion of background checks such as driving record, criminal record, and sex offense registry, state and local police records, or national sources such as FBI and E-Verify as required by funding agencies or determined necessary by Catholic Charities and results must be satisfactory to CCDBR, its representatives, employees, or agents as an essential requirement of employment. Ability to work irregular hours and weekends on short notice is required Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, participants, and visitors; cultural sensitivity and the ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse workplace with a diverse client population is required. Skills: Experience working with refugees preferred Knowledge of and experience working with refugee or immigrants preferred Cross-cultural or international experience preferred Excellent crisis intervention skills Attention to detail and ability to balance multiple simultaneous responsibilities in a fast-paced environment Operate Microsoft Office platform programs and ability to learn case management database systems Ability to meet strict deadlines Ability to think strategically and creatively problem solve Excellent verbal and written communication skills Exercises good judgment and ability to make difficult decisions when necessary   Primary Duties: Perform initial intake, assessment and eligibility determination Ongoing culturally sensitive case management services Data entry, file maintenance and reporting   Physical Demands and Work Environment Temperature controlled indoor work environment. Fluorescent lighting, occasional isolated conditions Must be able to lift 5 to 20 lbs. occasionally; the position requires the employee to walk, stoop, lift, bend, squat, kneel, climb, and handle. Sitting for 6 to 7 hours a day is expected for this position. Driving a motor vehicle for several hours at a time is expected up to 30% When the agency responds to disasters, performing duties outside primary responsibilities both in the office and at off-site locations affected by the disaster may be requested.   Job Type: Full – Time, Exempt
