                    Business Development
Class:          Full-Time (The Employee is required to work as scheduled, including days, nights,
                    evenings, weekends.)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Business Development, the Marketing & Business Development
Specialist is responsible for assisting to develop, implement and execute all marketing and business
development plans and activities aligned with the strategic priorities of DH.


PRIMARY ROLE:
The Marketing & Business Development Specialist (M&BDS) assists to identify, plan, direct, and coordinate
key marketing and business development activities across channels and mediums in alignment with the
strategic priorities defined by the DH Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and approved by the DH Board of
Directors. The Marketing & Business Development Specialist will also proactively explore innovative ideas,
strategies and technologies that will assist in these efforts.


In addition to creating marketing materials in partnership with the Director of Marketing & Business
Development, the M&BDS also assists to analyze the competitive landscape on an ongoing basis, results
and outcomes from each campaign and initiative, and helps to manage the yearly Marketing and Business
Development annual budget.


The M&BDS also focuses on customer acquisition, lead generation, and prospect management, and will
regularly meet with existing and target customers. The M&BDS is responsible for researching business
referrals, networking and industry opportunities, and digital leads; provide prospective customers with
tailored opportunities as required, and work with customers to create solutions for their needs as they
consult throughout the sales process.


The M&BDS is a self-starting, agile, results-driven, and detail-oriented marketer willing to help drive and
execute our strategic efforts to increase brand awareness, enhance the customer experience, attract, and
retain customers, and generate revenue for the hospital.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties of the M&BDS include but are not limited to:
• Increasing brand awareness and market share by developing and coordinating marketing
strategies, tactics and materials across channels and mediums.
• Assisting to oversee branding, advertising, and promotional campaigns.
• Assisting to develop and implement effective CRM-driven strategies
• Evaluating and optimizing marketing strategies and campaigns.
• Analyzing market trends and the competitive landscape.
• Generating new business leads.
• Preparing and presenting business development opportunities to existing and target customers.
• Assisting with DH Care Centre initiatives as needed.
• Assisting with CRM adoption and implementation.
• Assisting to manage the Marketing and Business Development annual budget.
• Preparing and presenting marketing and business development reports and materials for DH staff
and Management.
• Assisting with the promotion of our brand at CME’s, clinics, community initiatives,
conferences/trade shows and industry-related events.
• Assisting with internal communication efforts, events, and initiatives to help build a positive
culture.
• Assisting with staff training opportunities.
• Keeping informed of marketing strategies and trends.


PARTICIPATION IN COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES:
The employee, as part of his/her job description shall take part in the activities of any committee
that he/she is assigned by his/her supervisor and is expected to attend all scheduled meetings. The
employee further agrees to be an active participant in assigned activities related to Doctors
Hospital attaining and maintaining Joint Commission International (JCI) Accreditation.


QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor of arts degree (or equivalent) and/or marketing, communications, business
   administration, or similar.
• At least 3 years post-graduate experience in Marketing and Business Development.
• Additional credentials/certificates in the field
• Ideally SEO-certified
• Professional placement co-op experience – ideally in related fields (brand, marketing,
   communications, digital communications, social media)
• Familiar with Adobe products and are able to comfortably navigate: Photoshop, Premiere Pro,
   Illustrator
• Strong experience/proficiency with:
− Competitive analysis and research
− The development of strategic marketing and BD plans
− Developing and maintaining strategic content calendars and execution tactics
− Social media, navigating social platforms
− Building engaging campaigns tailored to specific platforms and audiences (including in-depth
   knowledge of rich media)
− Understanding of the digital realm - including User Experience (UX) design, wireframes and
functionality, SEO, user mapping, and developing user profiles journeys
• Comfort level and experience working with target clients, professionals and C-level executives –
    including the creation of supporting communications, Board presentations and other internal and
    external materials and collateral (content, copywriting and art direction)
• Experience creating project schedules and setting key deadlines and targets, while tracking and
   recording status updates in an organized manner
• Able to build community engagement plans that highlight trends, and suggest changes to improve
   and enhance community engagement practices (including experience with strategic sponsorships
   and corporate events)
• Possess excellent research skills and the unique ability to find alternative/innovative resources that
   will inform projects at hand
• Experience analyzing the customer journey, building user personas and identifying key
   opportunities for further engagement
• Proven ability to build and cultivate partnerships
• Proven ability to confidently offer and implement practical ideas and solutions (strong project
   management)
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in programming, placemaking and
   partnerships
• May require time outside of business hours
