Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – Veterinary Surgery

Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (NIVES) | Fort Wayne, IN
$22–$25 per hour, depending on experience
Day shift | Typically four 10-hour shifts per week | Some Saturdays required

Bring your surgical expertise to veterinary medicine. NIVES is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join our Surgery team. You’ll prepare operating rooms, maintain sterile technique, support our surgeons during procedures, and help keep instruments and supplies ready for patient care.

Prior veterinary experience is welcome, but it is not required. We’ll help you learn our procedures, equipment, and the needs of animal patients while you bring your CST expertise to the team.

What you’ll do

• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment for scheduled and urgent procedures.

• Scrub in, maintain the sterile field, anticipate instrument needs, and pass instruments and supplies during surgery.

• Identify and communicate breaks in sterile technique or concerns with equipment and supplies.

• Perform and document surgical counts according to hospital procedures.

• Clean, inspect, assemble, and prepare instruments for sterilization.

• Support room turnover, inventory, and an organized surgery workflow.

• Work closely with surgeons, veterinary technicians, anesthesia team members, and other surgery staff.

What you’ll bring

• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.

• Surgical technology education and experience in a surgical setting.

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instruments, instrument processing, and operating room procedures.

• Attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to adapt as surgical priorities change.

• Interest in learning veterinary surgical procedures and working with animal patients.

Pay and benefits

• $22–$25 per hour, depending on experience.
