Senior Backend Engineer (Poland, Remote)

First Connect Insurance Services is a digital marketplace providing independent insurance agents access to top US carriers and the optionality necessary to grow their businesses. Agents can work with 150+ carriers, selling various insurance policies, including home, auto, small business, and more. We’re on a mission to overhaul the technology agents have access to, putting consumer-grade software at their fingertips. We’ve got thousands of active agents with hundreds joining monthly, and we plan to accelerate our growth. 

You’ll join the Activation team, which owns the agent experience across onboarding and growth — sign-up and onboarding flows (including automations and underlying compliance), early-stage incentives, personalization, referrals, agency overview, notifications. The team’s core mission is helping newly registered agents take their first steps in the platform, get activated and guide them to their "aha moment" — outlinking to a carrier within their first session.

The main technical challenges are building and maintaining a high-conversion onboarding funnel with personalization logic, instrumenting and iterating quickly on growth experiments, and shipping reliably across a product surface that touches every new agent on the platform

• →Shape the First Impression: You will own the agent's journey from the moment they join, working on sign-up and onboarding flows, personalization logic, and initial incentives.
• →Streamline Compliance: You’ll build and maintain automations that handle underlying compliance and producer verification, turning what used to be manual work into a seamless digital experience.
• →Impact the "Aha Moment": Your code will directly guide thousands of agents to their first successful interaction with a carrier.
• →Bridge Legacy and Innovation: You will play a key role in evolving our foundational backend systems, ensuring that new growth experiments coexist reliably with our most critical codebase.
• →Collaborate Across Borders: You’ll work closely with our Discovery & Access team and our US-based Product Manager to ensure a cohesive and friction-less experience for every agent on the platform.

• 6+ years of commercial experience in software development.
• Proficiency in our tech stack: Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, PostgreSQL, and asynchronous system architecture.
• Technological Maturity: We want an experienced Engineer who worked with difficult systems and can be a technical authority within the team.
• Communication Skills: High level of communication skills to effectively sync with the Team Leader, Product Manager, and other stakeholders.
• Team Player: You are an excellent team player who values cooperation and communication over "lone wolf" development. You are ready to support your teammates.
• Problem Solver: Ability to dive deep into legacy code when necessary and find the best path forward.
• Startup Mindset: Initiative, ownership, and a "get things done" attitude.
• AI Savvy: Familiarity with modern LLM tools in day-to-day workflows.
• Languages: Fluent English and Polish.
