Regional Managing Director (mining / metallurgy / base metals) - Europe

GateSource HR is partnering with an international mining and metallurgical group to identify and recruit a seasoned Regional Managing Director to lead and optimize operations across several European countries. This executive role combines strategic leadership, operational oversight, and business development, with a strong focus on performance, efficiency, and organizational transformation. Residential role based in Europe. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage mining and metallurgical operations across multiple countries, ensuring operational excellence, safety, and compliance. Drive business development initiatives, identifying growth opportunities, partnerships, and investments. Support the commercial team with sales activities, client relationships, and contract negotiations. Oversee energy-related investment projects to strengthen long-term competitiveness. Implement restructuring and modernization programs across regional sites. Manage labor and union relations, ensuring constructive dialogue and compliance with local regulations. Execute cost optimization strategies to improve efficiency and profitability. Represent the organization with key stakeholders, including government authorities, industry associations, and communities. Requirements Degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related discipline. At least 15 years of progressive experience, including 10+ years in senior leadership roles within mining or metallurgical industries. Strong background in multi-country operations or management of large, complex industrial sites. Proven expertise in union relations, organizational change, and cost optimization. Commercial acumen with a track record in business development and sales support. Familiarity with energy or industrial investment projects is an asset. Outstanding leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Fluency in English is essential; additional European languages are a plus. Benefits Attractive package to be discussed.
