Requirements
~1 min read- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
- Experience in software integration and testing at the system level.
- Agile systems engineering experience
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools such as Magic Draw CAMEO, Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect
- Project planning and execution on programs
- Experience in writing requirements specifications
- A successful candidate will possess:
- Understanding and utilization of the appropriate processes and tools during pursuit and order capture.
- Strong leadership skills demonstrated with interpersonal interaction, individual mentoring to develop the team composition, and training.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to work well with others in a professional team environment.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, while balancing priorities and schedules are important attributes.
- Self-starter and have strong analytical skills.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance if needed.

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role as Senior Product Line Systems Engineer within the Open Platforms Applications Software department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of software only products. Team culture is extremely collaborative and engaged; we value our customers, our products, and our people (that means you).
This job is focused on Systems technical aspects of software development. In addition, our experienced engineers are involved in all aspects of the product life cycle, from bid and proposal to certification and support.
FACE (Future Airborne Capability Environment) - Our software products are used to support not only navigation, flight planning, and guidance with our MFMS-1000 solution, but also hazard avoidance in real time as part of our Avoidance Re-Router (ARR-7000), including a software layer in a distributed, layered architecture (like the FACE Technical Standard) responsible for moving data between applications our Transport Segment Services (TSS) and which are being deployed on a variety of emerging platforms and next generation pursuits.

Responsibilities

- →Assist in crafting operational plans and developing phased execution strategies to optimize daily workflows and scale production.
- →Collaborate effectively within a geographically dispersed team across various time zones and cultural backgrounds to drive unified project goals.
- →Advance key department initiatives by building interactive prototypes and demonstrations that showcase new concepts and capabilities.
- →Demonstrate management of the relationship between cost and value.
- →Drive team success within a multi-disciplinary environment by proactively coaching peers and fostering a highly collaborative culture.
- →Provide strong technical skills specifically in system-based development.
- →Serve as a lead systems engineer to capture, analyze, decompose, model, translate and create requirements for large complex systems and may lead system integration.
- →Mentors team in the development of functional, interface and performance specifications for hardware and software implementation.
- →Identify and document architecturally significant requirements and technical risk areas.
- →Apply SysML concepts for System Modeling across a full engineering lifecycle
- →May serve as system lead in integration, verification and validation for large complex systems.
- →Significant domain knowledge and knowledge of products, systems and applicable regulatory requirements across business units.
- →Decisions may have a major impact on cost, schedule, and technical performance.
- →Recommend new approaches, tools and techniques that drive continuous improvement in technical development processes.
- →Mentor product development teams in the utilization of the appropriate processes and tools during product development, thus increasing product quality and improving customer satisfaction.
- →Willingness to travel (domestic and international <35%).
