Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, bulldozers, loaders and graders to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel or other materials during construction and related activities Operate bulldozers or other heavy equipment to clear brush and stumps prior to logging activities and to build roads at logging and surface mining sites Operate heavy equipment with pile driver head to drive piling into earth to provide support for buildings, bridges or other structures Operate heavy dredging equipment to deepen waterways or reclaim earth fill Operate heavy paving and surfacing equipment to lay, spread or compact concrete, asphalt and other surface materials during highway and road construction Operate power shovels to excavate rock, ore or other materials from open-pit mines, strip mines, quarries or construction pits Operate heavy equipment to move, load and unload cargo Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate and refill equipment. Maneuvering motorized heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials. Loading and offloading rocks, debris, and other materials from heavy equipment. Observing stipulated safety codes at all times. Communicating with coworkers to elucidate project specifications, as needed. Reporting injuries and other accidents to the line manager. Advising the line manager of requisite upgrades, repairs, and replacements. Aiding coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift. Providing suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency Requirements High school diploma or its equivalent is required. Previous experience operating a variety of heavy equipment is required. Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Excellent vision or the use of corrective lenses Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity are exceptional. A thorough understanding of relevant safety guidelines . Ability to give and receive instructions Sharp decision-making abilities, especially when under pressure. Ability to work extra hours as needed.
