COMPANY OVERVIEW:
The company is a leading multipurpose terminal operator managing port berths under a long-term concession with the Karachi Port Trust (KPT). It plays a critical role in facilitating Pakistans maritime trade by delivering efficient, reliable, and technology-driven terminal operations. With a strong focus on trade facilitation.
- Designation: Executive HSE
- Location: East-Wharf Port (Keamari Port), Karachi (On-Site)
- Employment Type: Permanent & Rotational
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of working experience in port, terminal or maritime logistics operations or considerable working experience in any process / manufacturing industry
- Education: Min. 16 years of Education preferably a bachelor's degree in engineering discipline, environmental sciences, or any related field Professional certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 9001/45001/14001 etc.) preferred.
- Shift Details: 12-hour rotational shift schedule (8:00 AM to 8:00 PM) and (8:00 PM to 8:00 AM) based on operational requirements (3 Days – 1 Day Off – 3 Nights).
- Qualifications: Physical & Mental Fitness as per QHSE required standards i.e., hand/eye/foot coordination / visual/auditory requirements etc. Available to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
JOB PURPOSE:
Ensure effective monitoring and implementing health, safety & environmental policies and procedures in accordance with company and Group guidelines. This role ensures compliance with port regulations, international safety standards, inspections, trainings, and supporting continuous improvement in HSE performance across the organization.
Core Responsibilities:
- Implementation of Group policies, HSSE requirements and enforce
company HSE policies in accordance with ISO standards (e.g., ISO
45001, ISO 14001). - Perform regular site inspections including vessel operations, lifting
equipment worthiness, terminal facilities, health & safety appliances
etc. to identify hazards and ensure compliance. - Report unsafe acts / conditions, and potential hazards and ensure
timely corrective actions. - Carry out risk assessments and recommend appropriate control
measures to mitigate risks.Document and investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and propose corrective actions. - Monitor and evaluate third party contractors / vendors assessment with
respect to HSE compliance. - Monitor proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all
personnel on-site. - Support and coordinate emergency preparedness, drills, and first aid
specifically tailored for marine and yard situations. - Ensure adherence to waste management and environmental protection
practices as applicable. - Maintain records of inspections, observations, and safety performance
related to his area of responsibility otherwise advised.
People Management Responsibilites:
- Develop a culture of collaboration by promoting a positive and
supportive work environment. - Assist in conducting HSE training and awareness programs as per the
approved plans. - Lead toolbox talks and safety awareness sessions.
- Conduct HSE inductions and training for employees and contractors
- Promote a safety-first culture by engaging and motivating teams to
follow Company HSE principles and guidelines as communicated by the
Group. - Encourage people in reporting unsafe conditions and behaviors.
- Ensure effective administration and discipline for self and team,
including adherence to break schedules, attendance, overtime, leave
policies, and dress code standards, where applicable. - Monitor and manage the achievement of individual and team.
- Performance, ensuring accountability and consistent performance
where applicable. - Ensure continuous training and development opportunities for self and
direct reports; mentor and assist junior staff as needed. - Ensure Quality, Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental
Compliance. - Promote & maintain a culture of self and team motivation, engagement, and happiness.
Strategic Responsibilities:
- Suggest improvement / ideas in the betterment of overall health,
safety, environment & wellbeing of company employees for continual
improvement and uphold safety culture. - Identify potential challenges and risks within the workplace and suggest methods to mitigate the adverse impact.
- Plan annual objectives for improving department functions and
contribute in achieving the overall organizational goals. - Note: Additional / Other tasks and projects may be assigned as per
requirement
