Communications & Digital Media Intern (Unpaid)
15–20 hours per week | Office-based | 6-Month Internship | Vienna, Austria
The International Cultural Diversity Organization (ICDO) is looking for a creative, proactive, and digitally skilled intern to help communicate our work to international audiences through compelling visual storytelling and digital communications.
This internship offers hands-on experience within an Austrian NGO with UN ECOSOC Special Consultative Status, working in the fields of intercultural dialogue, cultural diversity, sustainability, human rights, and community empowerment.
The internship begins with preparations for Long Nights of Interculturality (21–27 September 2026), one of Vienna's largest international cultural festivals, bringing together participants from more than 30 countries. You will support ICDO's communications by creating content for social media, designing promotional materials, updating the website, preparing newsletters, presentations, certificates, and other visual content.
Prior to the festival, you will assist with promoting festival activities, creating digital and printed communication materials, supporting the International Art Exhibition, and preparing visual content for participants and partners. During the festival week, you will photograph and film performances, exhibitions, panel discussions, traditional costumes, and behind-the-scenes moments, create live social media content, and document the festival through engaging visual storytelling. Following the festival, you will edit photos and videos, develop impact stories, prepare newsletters and presentations, maintain ICDO's digital platforms, and independently research creative communication ideas and digital trends that can strengthen ICDO's visibility and outreach.
We value individuals who take ownership of their work, show creativity and initiative, enjoy visual storytelling, are not afraid to communicate with partners and participants, and understand that in a small international NGO every team member contributes wherever support is needed.
This internship is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in communications, marketing, media, graphic design, photography, videography, digital media, journalism, public relations, international relations, or the non-profit sector.
Please note that this is an unpaid internship. We are therefore looking for applicants who are genuinely motivated to gain practical experience within an international NGO and who are able to commit to the full six-month internship (15–20 hours per week, office-based in Vienna). Applicants participating through Erasmus+ Traineeships or similar university mobility programmes are especially encouraged to apply.
At ICDO, interns are trusted with meaningful responsibilities from day one. If you are creative, proactive, enjoy working in an international environment, and want to use your communication skills to promote projects with real social impact, we would be delighted to welcome you to our team.
