ICON builds Titan, a multi-story robotic construction printer. The print suite runs several networked subsystems, MGM/printer, pump, mixer, e-axis, fine positioner, positioning sensors, that all depend on site networking to talk to each other and to remote engineering teams, some of them international. We're looking for a network engineer to take ownership of that site environment: design it, harden it, and run it like the piece of critical infrastructure it is.

The person in this role will be the one who architects for reliability from the ground up, sets the standard for how OT and IT traffic coexist safely, and gives engineering teams a network they can trust mid-test.

Responsibilities

→Own the site network: switches, routers, cabling, and uplink, for a mixed environment of industrial controls, robotics telemetry, and standard IT traffic.
→Design and maintain proper segmentation between OT/robotics traffic and general IT traffic, so machine control stays isolated and protected from everyday network activity.
→Build and maintain reliable remote-access infrastructure for distributed engineering teams who need low-latency, stable control of test hardware, including cellular/5G failover options.
→Stand up proactive monitoring and alerting so issues are caught and resolved before they interrupt a test.
→Work directly with robotics, controls, and embedded software engineers to understand what each subsystem needs from the network (latency, packet loss tolerance, bandwidth) and design to it.
→Document network topology, failure modes, and recovery procedures, building the playbook for a site that's scaling fast.
→Serve as the go-to owner for network architecture decisions as the print suite and its remote-access needs grow.

Requirements

5+ years in network engineering, with real experience in industrial, manufacturing, or lab/test environments, not purely corporate office IT.
Hands-on expertise with routing and switching, VPN technologies (mesh/overlay VPNs such as Tailscale), and network segmentation (VLANs, firewalls).
Strong troubleshooting fundamentals across DNS, DHCP, and general connectivity, with the composure to work a live issue while a test is waiting on you.
Experience supporting OT/IT converged environments: PLCs, industrial controllers, or robotics traffic sharing infrastructure with standard IT systems.
A reliability-first design mindset: redundancy, failover, and monitoring built in from the start, not bolted on after something breaks.
Strong documentation habits. You'll be building the playbook, not inheriting one.

Experience supporting distributed or international engineering teams needing remote hardware access.
Familiarity with cellular/5G failover setups for site connectivity.
Background in construction tech, robotics, or additive manufacturing environments.
Comfort working alongside active hardware testing (this is a live test site, not a data center).
