As the Director, Legal Claims, you will be a key member of the Atlantic Legal Claims leadership team. In this role, you will lead a team of Managers and Unit Managers, providing strategic direction and support to a broader organization of legal professionals across Atlantic Canada. You will play a pivotal role in driving business results, building leadership capability, and fostering a high-performing culture through your leadership of both people leaders and their teams.

Responsibilities

  • →Shape the future of Legal Claims operations across Atlantic Canada.
  • →Partner closely with senior executives and influence decisions that impact business performance.
  • →Lead transformational initiatives that enhance client experience, operational effectiveness, and employee engagement.
  • →Develop and mentor a team of Managers and Unit Managers while influencing the success of more than 50 legal professionals.
  • →Build and strengthen Intact's leadership pipeline through coaching, succession planning, and talent development.
  • →Play a visible role in advancing strategic priorities and long-term business objectives.
  • →Lead the operational and strategic performance of a Legal Claims portfolio across Atlantic Canada.
  • →Contribute to the development and execution of business plans aligned with organizational priorities, financial objectives, and customer outcomes.
  • →Lead, coach, and develop a team of Managers and Unit Managers responsible for approximately 52 employees, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance.
  • →Build leadership capability through succession planning, talent development, performance management, and mentorship.
  • →Develop workforce strategies that support current and future business needs.
  • →Monitor, analyze, and manage key operational and financial performance indicators.
  • →Drive employee engagement and create an environment where people can do their best work.
  • →Partner with National Claims, Finance, Actuarial, HR, and other stakeholders to advance key business objectives.
  • →Identify trends, risks, and emerging opportunities within the legal and insurance landscape.
  • →Champion continuous improvement initiatives and lead complex change management efforts.
  • →Ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
  • →Sponsor and lead national strategic projects that contribute to Intact's long-term success.
  • →Promote collaboration and alignment across Legal Claims and Claims leadership teams.
  • →Serve as a key member of the Atlantic Legal Claims leadership team, helping shape regional priorities while contributing to national initiatives and the future direction of Legal Claims.
  • LL.B. or J.D. degree.
  • Member in good standing of a provincial Law Society.
  • Minimum 8 years of insurance defence litigation experience or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of legal leadership experience, including experience leading people leaders.
  • Demonstrated success leading strategic initiatives and large-scale change.
  • Strong business acumen with experience managing operational performance, budgets, and resources.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build strong executive relationships.
  • Exceptional communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven mindset.
  • Ability to balance strategic priorities with operational execution.
  • Proven ability to develop talent and build high-performing teams.
