TITLE: Senior Systems Engineer

LOCATION: Luxembourg
  • System level trade-offs, coordinating inputs from various disciplines within the team to evaluate any proposed changes of the design baseline;
  • Requirements management including deriving and writing requirements using functional analysis and flowdown from existing parent requirements sources, planning and executing verification and validation testing, and ensuring all requirements are closed-out at the planned project milestones;
  • Develop concept of operations for Rover missions, including consideration of environmental and system constraints, alongside payload operation and science return considerations to maximise the mission return and chances of success
  • Develop mission DD&V logic, including model philosophy, test matrix, hardware matrix, incompressible test list, etc
  • Independently perform system-sizing simulations and develop configuration design studies.
  • Implement, operate, develop, and interpret models and tools for design simulations and budgets;
  • Derive system interfaces, author interface documentation such as IRDs, ICDs, and coordinate any necessary design developments with external stakeholders such as instrument providers and lander team
  • Support the planning, preparation and hands-on execution of assembly, integration, and test activities as necessary, including taking responsibility for troubleshooting and resolving anomalies and non-conformances in co-ordination with the PA function
  • Represent the systems engineering function as necessary in ongoing project control meetings and platforms, including NRBs, CRBs, Risk Reviews, Lessons Learned Reviews, etc
  • Define appropriate approaches to standards conformance, including tailoring of ECSS, proposing methodologies to balance conformance to different standards applied in different regions, maintaining a new space approach, while balancing risk, schedule and cost considerations appropriately.
  • Appropriately apply margins throughout the program according to agreed practices, including creating and developing these practices where necessary.
  • Creation or amendment of Systems Engineering Plan as necessary within the project context
  • Authoring of project documentation and other deliverables and lead discussions related to the team’s work in customer reviews;
  • Support business team sales activities, develop outstanding proposals and service offers to customers,
  • Perform feasibility studies and develop requirements, payload interface documents, statement of work, test procedures, etc with payload customers as necessary
  • Support the planning of effort and resources needed for the systems engineering function on a mission, including listing deliverables, timelines and milestones in co-ordination with the Project Manager
  • Establish and contribute to the development and improvement of value-added systems engineering processes and tools that enable our company to continue to grow and operate efficiently;
  • Become conversant with lunar science, the design of planetary science instruments, ISRU processes
  • Speak up, identify risks and issues, define and manage mitigations
  • Travel occasionally to ispace offices and to vendor and instrument provider locations, represent ispace at events and conferences
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of experience within the aerospace industry
  • Exhibit sound judgement and a deep understanding of systems engineering processes and thinking
  • Be highly organized and capable of autonomously planning and executing complex technical work
  • Be knowledgeable in processes for spacecraft systems, subsystems and payload design, and assembly & test.
  • Able to quickly develop subject matter expertise in new subjects
  • Possess practical experience in one or more of the following: avionics or payload electronics, electrical power systems, communications and RF, mechanical or thermal analysis, or integration and testing of aerospace systems
  • Thrive in multi-disciplinary environment in close cooperation with engineering team, business team, and customers
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Show initiative, ownership, accountability, and positive can-do attitude
  • Be comfortable with change and fast-paced environment
  • Have a strong command of English
  • Has gone through the iterative process of problem identification, approach definition, analysis and/or test, data reduction and interpretation, and communication of results;
  • Experience in developing concept of operations, functional analysis, specifications, and procedures;
  • Experience with hands-on lab, prototyping, and/or AIT work
  • Knowledge of mechanical or structural engineering including design for manufacturing
  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and interfaces
  • Knowledge of instrumentation/sensor physics and/or lunar science
  • Knowledge of spacecraft operations principles, planning and execution
  • Experience generating, managing, or controlling requirements
  • Experience performing FMECA, FDIR, reliability analysis, and/or hazard analysis
  • Experience with Engineering Software Architecture, including understanding of TM/TC formats, modes, interfaces and functional testing
  • Familiarity with spacecraft design and test standards: ECSS, MIL-STD, or similar
