Finance & AccountingCollections Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Collections Specialist to support accounts receivable management and maintain healthy cash flow within a fully remote environment. In this role, you will take ownership of overdue customer accounts, proactively follow up on outstanding payments, and help resolve billing issues that may delay collections. You will work closely with customers and internal accounting and operations teams to streamline payment processes and ensure accurate documentation. The position offers considerable autonomy, encouraging independent thinking, practical problem-solving, and personalized customer interactions rather than scripted communication. You will join a collaborative, supportive team that values trust, accountability, and high-quality work. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their expertise in collections and finance while contributing to an international technology business with a strong social mission.

  • Accounts Receivable and Collections: Proactively contact business customers by email, phone, or video call to follow up on overdue invoices, secure payments, and maintain accurate records of collection activities.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build professional relationships with customers, respond to billing and payment inquiries, and provide clear explanations to help resolve outstanding account issues.
  • Payment Issue Resolution: Collaborate with accounting and operations colleagues to investigate and address obstacles that delay payments, adapting solutions to each customer's circumstances.
  • Customer Contact Research: Identify alternative customer contacts when existing points of contact are outdated, unavailable, or unresponsive to ensure collection efforts continue effectively.
  • Purchase Order Management: Monitor customer purchase order schedules, follow up on missing documentation, and ensure purchase orders are received on time to prevent payment delays.
  • Invoice Submission: Navigate customer invoicing portals and submit invoices accurately in accordance with individual customer requirements and payment procedures.
  • Documentation and Process Improvement: Create, maintain, and update internal documentation related to collections, ensuring processes remain organized, accurate, and accessible to the team.
  • Independent Work Management: Organize and prioritize collection activities, monitor outstanding tasks, maintain follow-up schedules, and take initiative to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the accounts receivable and operations teams to share information, coordinate solutions, and support the organization's financial objectives.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to assess situations quickly, discuss issues confidently, and develop practical solutions independently.
  • Conflict Resolution: The ability to handle challenging conversations professionally, manage disagreements constructively, and maintain a customer-focused approach while pursuing payment objectives.
  • Organization and Time Management: Strong attention to detail and the ability to independently manage multiple accounts, prioritize tasks, track outstanding payments, and maintain consistent follow-up.
