Finance Director
Quick Summary
Experience managing an accounting department, finance team, or broader finance function, combined with the ability to perform hands-on accounting work. Strong FP&A expertise,
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity to build and scale a modern, technology-enabled finance and accounting practice serving multiple clients. You will initially take direct ownership of bookkeeping, accounting, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A), while helping design the processes and controls needed for sustainable growth. Working alongside an operations engineer, you will introduce automation and AI-powered workflows to streamline routine finance activities without compromising accuracy or auditability. You will turn financial and operational data into forecasts, KPI dashboards, and actionable management insights. As the practice expands, you will guide junior accounting staff and AI agents, shifting more of your focus toward review, planning, and client decision support. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to shape a growing finance function and influence its technology, operating model, and future direction.
-
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting activities across multiple clients, including reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and month-end close.
-
Establish clear finance workflows, review procedures, internal controls, and approval processes to ensure accuracy and consistency.
-
Use QuickBooks as the primary accounting system to manage and oversee client financial records.
-
Connect revenue, cost, and operational data to develop KPI dashboards, financial forecasts, and management reporting.
-
Prepare weekly 13-week or 26-week cash flow forecasts for each client, using automated data where possible while reviewing inputs, assumptions, and exceptions.
-
Build rolling 12- to 24-month forecasts and management reports that connect accounting results with operational performance indicators.
-
Establish structured accounts payable and receivable processes, including clear ownership, approval steps, payment calendars, and escalation procedures.
-
Collaborate with the business operations engineer to map, automate, and test finance workflows while maintaining appropriate controls and audit trails.
-
Review work completed by junior accounting staff and AI agents, ensuring the quality and reliability of financial outputs.
-
Design a scalable operating model that can support an initial client portfolio and expand to approximately three or four clients.
-
Participate in client calls, explain financial results, and provide clear insights to support business decisions.
-
Take on increasing responsibility for client relationships as the finance practice grows and client trust develops.
-
Contribute to the development of the finance practice's tools, processes, team structure, and service delivery model.
