The Senior Power Systems Consultant will play a key role in advancing the reliability, stability, and resilience of modern electrical grids. Working within a specialized power systems consulting team, you will lead complex engineering studies that support the integration of renewable energy, battery storage, and advanced power electronics into transmission networks. You will leverage your expertise in PSCAD and electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulations to evaluate system behavior, resolve technical challenges, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Collaborating with utilities, regional transmission organizations, energy developers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will translate sophisticated technical analyses into practical recommendations. You will also contribute to project delivery, technical innovation, and the professional development of junior consultants. This fully remote opportunity combines advanced engineering, client-facing consulting, and meaningful contributions to the global energy transition.

  • Lead advanced power systems studies: Conduct and oversee complex electrical transmission system analyses, including electromagnetic transients, dynamic stability, system interconnection, and grid code compliance.
  • Develop and validate simulation models: Build, test, troubleshoot, and review detailed PSCAD models for inverter-based resources, renewable generation facilities, battery energy storage systems, synchronous machines, and associated control systems.
  • Perform electromagnetic transient analysis: Execute EMT studies to evaluate fault ride-through capabilities, control interactions, harmonics, subsynchronous interactions, and other phenomena affecting grid stability and performance.
  • Analyze power system dynamics: Apply power flow and dynamic stability analysis using PSS®E to assess system behavior and identify potential operational or reliability issues.
  • Support grid integration projects: Conduct interconnection, system impact, and facility studies to help utilities, energy developers, transmission providers, and regional grid operators integrate new generation and emerging technologies safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure regulatory and technical compliance: Evaluate study results against applicable grid codes, NERC Reliability Standards, utility requirements, and regional planning criteria.
  • Manage technical project execution: Lead technical workstreams, monitor milestones, validate study assumptions, and ensure deliverables meet agreed technical scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Prepare technical documentation: Develop detailed engineering reports, document modeling assumptions and methodologies, and present simulation results and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across engineering teams: Work with multidisciplinary specialists to interpret complex study findings, investigate system performance challenges, and develop effective technical solutions.
  • Develop automation and workflows: Design scripts and automated processes that improve model development, simulation execution, post-processing, reporting, and quality assurance.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship: Guide junior consultants, review technical deliverables, share modeling best practices, and support the development of colleagues' engineering capabilities.
  • Deliver client consulting and training: Participate in on-site technical engagements and provide specialized training on power system modeling, simulation tools, and study methodologies.
  • Drive continuous improvement: Contribute to the refinement of analytical approaches, modeling practices, and consulting methodologies to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and consistency of project outcomes.
