OBJECTIVE

To lead the end-to-end management, safety and profitability of the Fast Track karting facility, covering both rental and race operations. The Fast Track Manager is responsible for delivering a safe, exciting and memorable karting experience for every guest, maintaining the kart fleet, track and timing systems to the highest technical standard, and leading a skilled team. The role drives revenue and guest satisfaction while ensuring full compliance with international karting safety guidelines, resort policies and applicable regulations.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of operational management experience in motorsports or go-karting facilities, including supervising a team and running day-to-day track operations.
  • Industry Exposure: Experience in a hotel, resort or leisure attraction environment is an advantage.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of kart mechanics (gas and electric), engine troubleshooting, tire management (compounds and wear), battery and charging management for electric karts, and track layouts.
  • Systems: Working knowledge of timing/telemetry software (e.g. Pixel Time System / Blue Shock Race), booking and point-of-sale (POS) systems, and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Skills: Excellent leadership, crisis management, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to stay calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Education: Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Sports Management, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certifications: First Aid / CPR certification and relevant technical/safety certifications are a strong advantage.
  • Language: Fluent in written and spoken English; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Personal Attributes: Guest-focused, safety-minded and hands-on, with a strong sense of ownership. Able to work outdoors in a tropical climate and to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Fast Track karting facility, including rental sessions, race events, private hire and peak-hour guest flow.
  • Maintain strict adherence to international karting safety guidelines, resort safety policies and the facility's standard operating procedures at all times.
  • Conduct daily opening and closing track inspections, including track surface, barriers, tyre walls, fencing, signage, flags and lighting, and record all findings.
  • Enforce personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols for guests and staff, ensuring helmets, balaclavas, neck braces and other safety gear are clean, in good condition and correctly worn.
  • Ensure every guest receives a full safety briefing before each session, and enforce age, height, health and behaviour eligibility rules for drivers.
  • Set and control session formats, kart speed settings and the number of karts on track according to guest experience level and track conditions.
  • Suspend or stop track operations when weather, track condition, equipment faults or guest behaviour create a safety risk.
  • Lead the response to any incident or emergency on the track, ensuring injured persons receive first aid, the Clinic, Resort Manager and relevant departments are informed, and the incident is documented and investigated promptly.
  • Ensure fire extinguishers, first aid kits and emergency equipment are available, inspected and in date.
  • Ensure fuel and battery storage, handling and charging follow safety and environmental standards.
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for the kart fleet (gas/electric), engines, tires, timing systems and safety barriers.
  • Carry out and supervise daily pre-operation checks on every kart, including brakes, steering, throttle, seat belts, bumpers and fuel or battery levels, and remove any unsafe kart from service immediately.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot engine, electrical and mechanical faults, and ensure repairs are completed to manufacturer standards.
  • Monitor tire compounds and wear, and manage tire rotation and replacement to maintain consistent kart performance and safety.
  • Ensure timing and telemetry systems are accurate, calibrated and fully operational at all times.
  • Maintain complete maintenance logs and service history for each kart, engine and piece of track equipment.
  • Plan fleet replacement and major overhauls, and provide recommendations for the annual capital expenditure budget.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Engineering (DOE) on major repairs, track works, electrical supply and technical support.
  • Deliver a safe, exciting and high-quality experience to every guest, and be visible on the track and front desk during operating hours.
  • Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally and promptly, and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor guest reviews and feedback, and act on trends to improve the experience.
  • Drive revenue by achieving the budgeted capture ratio and spend per guest through strategic pricing, packages, promotions and upselling.
  • Develop and promote race formats, leagues, grand price events, family sessions and team-building packages to attract new and repeat guests.
  • Manage peak-hour guest flow, bookings and waiting times to maximise track utilisation.
  • Coordinate group bookings, private events and tournaments with the Sales, Events and Resort Operations departments.
  • Promote and manage merchandise sales and photo or video packages where available.
  • Prepare and manage the department's annual budget and forecasts, and control operating costs to ensure the facility is financially sustainable.
  • Recruit, train and supervise staff in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Deliver structured onboarding and on-the-job training covering safety procedures, flag signals, emergency response, technical skills and guest service.
  • Conduct regular safety drills, customer service training and refresher sessions, and keep training records up to date.
  • Prepare duty rosters to ensure adequate staffing during peak hours and events, and manage attendance, leave and overtime in line with resort policies.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set clear objectives and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Address disciplinary and grievance matters fairly and in line with company policy, in consultation with Human Resources.
  • Identify and develop high-potential team members for succession planning.
  • Maintain high staff morale, discipline, grooming standards and a positive team culture.
  • Manage stock levels of spare parts, tires, fuel, lubricants, batteries, safety gear and merchandise, maintaining agreed par levels.
  • Raise purchase requests and coordinate with the Purchasing department and suppliers for timely ordering, taking into account shipping lead times to the Maldives.
  • Evaluate supplier quality, pricing and reliability, and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile inventory, ensuring proper storage, security and record keeping.
  • Control wastage and the disposal of used tires, oils and batteries in line with environmental standards.
  • Monitor and report daily revenue, guest numbers, track utilisation, incident reports and maintenance logs, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, health and safety, and environmental requirements, as well as resort policies and insurance conditions.
  • Develop, maintain and regularly review standard operating procedures (SOPs), risk assessments and emergency response plans for the facility.
  • Support internal and external audits and safety inspections, and close out any findings promptly.
  • Report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue, capture ratio, spend per guest, guest satisfaction, incident rate and kart availability to the Resort Manager and senior management.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly operational reports, and propose action plans to improve performance.
  • Attend departmental and resort meetings as required, and perform any other reasonable duties assigned by management.

  • General:
  • Subject to the fact that you may from time to time be expected to work outside normal hours in order to meet reporting deadlines and take full responsibility of the department thereby extending his/her support whenever needed.
  • Specific financial measures of performance:  To be agreed at each appraisal.
  • Frequency of appraisal:  Performance to be appraised bi-annually.
