Senior Azure Cloud DBA Engineer

This is a consultancy mission delivered by Keystone Solutions for our client. We are recruiting a Senior Operational Database Administration and Engineering consultant who will work on site with the client, perform engineering-led platform build and expert operational support, and contribute to transformational initiatives in a full distributed SQL Server environment. 

Mission duration: 1 year, renewable. 

Start date: January 2027. 

Languages: English mainly plus one local language. 

On-site requirement: two days per week, chosen by the consultant. 

Team day: Monday. 

Service model: 24/7 support plus weekly operations, with operations also on weekends.

• Role context: Senior Operational Database Administration and Engineering, within a client organization structured around IGO: Infra and Operation, IS: Informatics Services, and ATAS: Application Technology, Architecture and Strategy.
• Team size: 16 DBAs and 1 to be recruited.
• Team structure: three pools. Juniors (6) handle RUN. Mediors handle non recurrent requests that bring short or mid term value for D.A.E or IS, such as LCM of products, quick wins to gain efficiency, delivery of small improvements, handling changes. Seniors handle transform.
• Technology landscape: full distributed SQL Server.

As a Keystone Solutions consultant working closely with the client, you will perform the following responsibilities:

• →Performance and monitoring.
• →Data handling.
• →Design and modelling.
• →Support and documentation.
• →Design and industrialize platform services, then transfer practices and know how to the team.
• →Engineering-led role split: 65 percent BUILD and 35 percent expert support and coaching.

Top priority: build NoSQL capabilities, with a strong focus on Azure Cosmos DB. As a Keystone Solutions consultant you will deliver:

• Refresh and scrambling.
• Performance and monitoring: troubleshooting, tuning and operational support.
• Data modelling and governance: standards for document models and NoSQL usage.

• PowerShell, Terraform, CI/CD.
• Reusable scripts and deployment modules.
• Documented procedures and handover, runbooks and knowledge transfer.
• Azure platform management (security, backup, recovery and cost control).

• Team day: Monday.
• Two days on site mandatory, by choice by the consultant.
• 24/7 support plus weekly operations.
• Operations also on weekends.
• Collaborate with Juniors handling RUN, Mediors handling non recurrent requests and changes, Seniors handling transform.

• 7 plus years in SQL Server.
• Proven experience in Azure SQL DB and Cosmos DB.
• Ownership and coaching mindset, with the ability to transfer practices and know how to the team.
• Language: English mainly plus one local language.

• You operate as a Keystone Solutions consultant embedded with the client, combining on-site collaboration with remote work as appropriate.
• You deliver on the client's priorities, align with their IGO, IS and ATAS stakeholders, and uphold Keystone Solutions' standards for engineering quality, documentation and knowledge transfer.
• You perform the full scope of responsibilities listed above under the Keystone Solutions consultancy model, working closely with the client's DBA team and related functions.
