Our client based in Lincolnshire is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Team, specialising in Section 42 Triage. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled safeguarding practitioner to work within a fast-paced environment, supporting adults with care and support needs who may be at risk of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

The successful candidate will play a key role in screening and triaging safeguarding concerns, assessing risk, determining safeguarding thresholds, and coordinating timely and proportionate responses. Working closely with adults, families, carers, health professionals, and partner agencies, you will promote the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal and ensure that safeguarding interventions are outcome-focused, strengths-based, and person-centred.

This role requires a confident practitioner with strong safeguarding knowledge, excellent professional judgement, and the ability to work effectively in a busy safeguarding environment whilst managing competing priorities.

Responsibilities

Core duties include:

  • Undertaking triage of safeguarding concerns and determining whether Section 42 criteria are met in accordance with the Care Act 2014.
  • Screening referrals, identifying safeguarding thresholds, and determining appropriate safeguarding pathways and actions.
  • Assessing and managing risk effectively, ensuring safeguarding concerns are responded to proportionately and appropriately.
  • Developing and supporting safeguarding plans that promote safety, wellbeing, choice, and independence.
  • Promoting Making Safeguarding Personal, ensuring adults remain at the centre of safeguarding decision-making and outcome planning.
  • Applying professional curiosity to safeguarding practice, gathering information, analysing risks, and exploring concerns thoroughly.
  • Working collaboratively with health professionals, police, care providers, advocacy services, housing services, and other partner agencies.
  • Providing advice and guidance to professionals regarding safeguarding concerns, thresholds, and best practice.
  • Identifying innovative and community-based solutions that help reduce risks and improve outcomes for adults with care and support needs.
  • Maintaining accurate, timely, and high-quality case recordings, safeguarding documentation, and professional reports.
  • Participating in safeguarding meetings, discussions, and multi-agency forums where required.
  • Contributing to the development of high-quality safeguarding practice across Adult Social Care services.

Requirements

  • Professional Qualification: MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, or equivalent recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Significant post-qualified experience within Adult Social Care, with substantial safeguarding experience.
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: Strong understanding of Adult Safeguarding legislation, particularly Section 42 of the Care Act 2014 and safeguarding best practice.
  • Triage Experience: Experience screening safeguarding concerns, applying thresholds, and determining appropriate safeguarding responses.
  • Risk Management: Proven ability to assess risk, make defensible decisions, and implement proportionate safeguarding interventions.
  • Making Safeguarding Personal: Understanding and application of person-centred safeguarding approaches that focus on individual outcomes.
  • Professional Curiosity: Ability to challenge, investigate, and explore safeguarding concerns thoroughly and effectively.
  • Multi-Agency Working: Experience working collaboratively with health services, police, providers, and partner agencies.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, analytical, report-writing, and decision-making skills.
  • Resilience: Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing demands, and maintain high standards of practice.
