Echo & Stress Testing (Per diem, Day Shift)

Job Summary: The Sonographer-Echocardiology assists in performing simple and complex diagnostic procedures on patients with cardiac and vascular dysfunctions. Utilizes all cardiac and vascular ultrasound modalities (e.g. 2D, Mode, Doppler, color flow, transesophageal, stress echo, arterial and venous ultrasound imaging and measurements). Produces quality echo and vascular imaging and works with cardiologists throughout the facility including surgery. Prepares records for reviewing by the cardiologists for interpretation. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands their knowledge base and clinical skills. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Associate's Degree from a two-year accredited program required. Minimum of one year echocardiography or vascular ultrasound required. Minimum one year clinical rotation experience in assigned area of specialty may be considered in lieu of work experience. 

Knowledge and Skills: Able to read, write legibly, speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, fax, software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Able to communicate in English, relate positively, effectively, and professionally; be assertive and consistent in following and or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond with courtesy when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English, in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically, perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; resolve; recall information; pay close attention to detail.  Uses independent judgment and initiative. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place and patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required. Within one year from hire date, must be registered through American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) OR if registered through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), must obtain Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS). Dual certification in Echocardiogram and Vascular Ultrasound preferred.
