Finance Director - Bench

Job Summary 

The Bench Director of Finance provides interim financial leadership and operational support to hotels across the CALA region during periods of transition, leadership vacancies, hotel openings, and special projects. The role is responsible for ensuring continuity of financial operations, maintaining compliance with Marriott standards, strengthening internal controls, and supporting Executive Leadership teams in achieving their financial and operational objectives. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Provide temporary financial leadership to properties without a permanent Director of Finance or Controller. 

• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, month-end close, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, and compliance with Marriott policies and procedures. 

• Partner with General Managers and Executive Committees to drive profitability, cost control, productivity, and operational performance. 

• Support hotel openings, transitions, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives throughout the region. 

• Implement and strengthen financial controls, audit compliance, and risk management processes. 

• Lead budget preparation, business planning, capital expenditure reviews, and performance analysis. 

• Support and mentor local finance teams, ensuring business continuity and successful leadership transitions. 

• Coordinate and implement financial systems, reporting tools, and operational processes required for Marriott compliance and local regulatory requirements. 

Key Qualifications 

• Strong hospitality finance experience, preferably within Marriott International or other international hotel companies. 

• Proven leadership in multi-property, regional, or transitional finance roles. 

• Experience with hotel openings, system implementations, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. 

• Strong knowledge of USGAAP, owner reporting, cash management, audit, and compliance requirements. 

• Ability to quickly adapt to different business environments and lead teams through periods of change. 

• Fluent English and Spanish preferred.

• Supporting hotels during prolonged DOF or Controller vacancies. 

• Leading financial workstreams for hotel openings. 

• Stabilizing finance operations during leadership transitions. 

• Supporting audit remediation and compliance initiatives. 

• Driving budget, forecast, and profitability improvement projects. 

Candidate Profile and Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related discipline required. 

• 8+ years of progressive financial experience. 

• Lodging/hospitality industry knowledge.   

• Excellent finance, accounting and analytical skills, including experience with cash management, forecasting, revenue management strategies, capital expenditure planning and budgeting, and project management. 

• Strong interpersonal skills; role requires considerable liaison with multiple stakeholders and maintenance of considerable internal and external relationships. 

• Operates with a collaborative mindset to ensure that key stakeholders are considered. 

• Familiar within the Shared Service arena.  

• Strong Control Environment track record is advantageous. 

• Fluent in English and Spanish. Portuguese as a plus.  

• Ability to travel a minimum of 50% on a routine basis - with ability to travel more as business needs require. 

• Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.
